I don't think they are to concerned about drag strip times. They have been seen benchmarking the ZL1 n GT3 neither car is like say the Demon! I don't expect it to be Demon competition and that's fine. If it hangs with a GT3 on the street or track that's a win in my book!!!!

It almost feels like Ford is in a no win situation with the GT500. If it's not faster on the strip than car "A" it is a failure. If it can't beat car "B" around the track Ford screwed up. Some of us ask for an all around great car but an all around great car is going to lose to another car on either track (drag or strip).

I feel that will likely be the case however I don’t see it as a failure at all. If it is mid 10 sec car then what only the demon is faster, if only the 1LE is faster it is going to be the best OVERALL car. My biggest concern is this car being able to put power down under 40 mph. This is the reason I bought a Z06, it’s a fantastic car overall. I want a car that can do 2-4 track and drag strip days a year. I hope it lives up to the hype.

Why do we assume it is a track car? Or what track are we talking about? GT and GT350(R) is track / twisty. GT500 is typically 1/4 mile / straight line speed. Also previous GT500 eclipsed 200 MPH stock - not sure why media is ogling over that number. And it did it with 662 HP or there about.

It's always going to lose to another car...like Ford's own GT. With that said there are certain cars it should beat. I certainly believe it's possible for the GT500 to be faster than a ZL1/1LE on track and Hellcat Challenger at the drag strip. Some people might want it to be faster than a Demon and maybe it could if Ford offered a drag pack option with slicks and a race gas tune!
