Resurrecting the thread! I am installing the Tune+ WGA today on my car. I took a photo with my cell phone and, luckily enough, the bolt at the bottom of the heat shield in not a torx but a hex! It seems that Ford has replaced it.

My main concern is having to bend the heat shield to get it out, but I guess there is no other way to do, so be it

Have anyone able to put on a blanket without putting alot of stress on the Wastegate?
Yes..

The shield is the key ! now if try to keep it stock good luck ..cut the shield to above waste gate control arm the pressure from the shield keeps it off the rod.. install the two nuts job done..

It definitely needed adjusting. It comes without the rod end screwed onto the arm.

I've been trying to learn about turbos, very new to me. I'm a V8 supercharger guy. It looks like the wastegate opens from pressure to prevent overboost allowing exhaust to be diverted from the turbine. If that's correct, I'm assuming this preload will hold the wastegate open that amount (e.g. 1/4") allowing a small amount of exhaust gas to always slip past the turbine but gradually open further as the spring rate is approached. Does that sound about right? If so, would the indication of the preload being too much be the turbo not building full desired boost?

By the way, if anyone knows any good reading, I'd really appreciate the reference.
Video.. engineering explained on YouTube..

So basically the heat shield would be mounted in 2 parts around the blanket?

I think it was three meters and some heat tape from home Depot in the heating and cooling zone just foil tape for connection of ace ducting at the beginning and middle and end ..I clamped with t bolts for safety so it wouldn't unwrap it self..

Tune+ WGA installation complete. No issues whatsoever. In fact the hardest part was the removal of the top two bolts of the heat shield, not the bottom one (which was actually easy to remove). I placed a metal tube on top of my socket wrench to create some leverage and at the end I managed to take them out as well.

The heat shield came out relatively easily by bending it. At the end I put it back on with no damage at all. To preload the WGA I did 4 complete turns of the clevis which translates to 3mm.

Tip: I used a pump which I connected to the swivel nipple of the WGA in order to move the rod forward and connect it on the flapper. It worked very well and made the process a piece of cake.

After the installation I flashed the updated tune that Adam sent me and took the car for a ride. It pulls like a monster throughout the RPM range. Couldn’t be happier. This is easily the best mode after the intercooler and the tune.
