I have a YET TO BE INSTALLED full stage 2, 10 rib, with new upgraded larger heat exchanger, whipple cal tool, VMS BAP, blah blah. Kit has around 500 miles on it.

With these twin kits floating around and seemingly finally moving off the shelves, I am tempted to put the Whipple up for sale, could easily clear the cost for one of these stock manifold setups.

Thoughts???? Help me please.

Goal is to max out the stock motor, on e85, rest of the drive train built (still deciding what avenue to go with MT82). I want a GOOD street car that can roll race with the best of em, also make some low 10 passes at the strip.

whipple will get you low 10s even if MT82. just gotta make sure driver mod and tire is there. with the 10 rib and a whipple and your fuel system you are EASILY at stock engine limit.

problem is when low 10s aint good enough. when 900 whp and up is boring. turbo install is more entailed but changing settings is much easier. build a motor and keep going pending block/fuel and traction.

Thanks for chiming in. I am still wrapping my head around how much guys overspin their Whipples to go deep into the 9's and even some 8's. Back in my hemi world it was a HUGE no no to do it, everyone flamed it, and was assumed the blower bearings grenade in short order once over 18k. If that isn't truth, then its just a pulley swap to keep going well into the 800whp range with the Whipple. Not sure I will ever go past that with this car.

If the money works out, go TT. Especially if you like them roll races. No comparison.

Always thought a PD blower would be better for roll racing? Instant power helps with the BS I get on what mph to start at, having all that power under the curve meant my car always pulled the same as long as I was near peak torque on take off.

Not saying the PD blowers are bad by any means.. but if you get next to another GT that has a TT, or even a decent centri set up, and you run from a roll... they are going to walk on you rather easily. The added air coming in, and the fact that centri's and TT both run great in the high RPM range... It very rarely turns out good for the PD car. Unless you are putting down a good bit more power than they are. Which is very doubtful if in comparison to a TT. I do like my Whipple.. but I'd trade it for a TT in a second.

From a dig... different story. Then you have an advantage, assuming the driver mod is installed.

Love my Whipple and how it drives but if I had it to do all over again it would be Twins. 2 years into my Whipple=no turning back, I will just keep spending more and more $$ for ea. new upgrade:(

What are you still spending money on? Specific to the fact you got a whipple or just general other mods?

PD and stick are a good match especially from a dig. Whipple can make 900+. Way more than I would run on a stock block. Turn it up and see what you think around 850. Faster than 99% of cars on the street. The next step is built motor and trans swap. 10-12k minimum when done right just for 150 more hp and the track kicking you out. Ask how I know...

From what I have seen, Whipples pull mph compared to what people believe is the norm for PD blowers. Of course gearing a big differentiator but I pull 36mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4. That's pretty significant for a PD. What's the difference if a turbo car goes 160 in a 1/2 mile vs the same car with Whipple going 160mph? Same thing to me they just get there with a little different feeling and power band. Yes you can argue that Turbos have less drag on the motor, freeing up more HP to get to the wheels and all those typical arguments. When you talk about drag racing a 10.0 is a 10.0 regardless of power adder. You can go 8s on a Whipple or a Turbo. I make 750whp in my car. I wouldn't hesitate to roll race a turbo or centri car with 750whp. There are so many variables it's impossible to compare but I know that I can reach any goal I have for the car with the Whipple.

That all being said if I did it over, Knowing what I know now, I would try turbos. That's only because I now have PD and Centri experience. I never had a V8 before this car and wanted to try a PD because I have had turbo cars before and know what to expect. This was all about trying something new for me.
