HOW TO: Add MyFord Touch/Sync 3 to base model S550

Anyone knows how to check if 2016 sync3 apim/screen works? Picked it up from scrap yard and have 10days to return, cant get it to light up and having a hard time rewiring. pin1 fuse and pin37 ground don't do anything, what else do you need to get it to start just to check condition

I asked the same thing and I believe you have to also connect the two CAN pins to the car's CAN. Which, if you're coming from a base car are going to be pins on your GPSM connector.

Good luck with that plug and play harness- Ive been trying to get the guy that makes them to contact me and had no luck in 2 months. There is a company, I think that its infotainment.com that sells them but they are double the price at $299

He rage quit life back in Feb. But re-pinning is easy enough, so DIY! :cheers:

You need to supply 12v pin 1 Ground pin 37 and HS-CAN. If it doesn't turn on without re-pinning it's no good.

You do NOT need a harness. The pins are easy to move and add. I can't do anything to help until I'm back in town Friday

Do it yourself and save money. Seriously guys read my Sync 3 swap post
I already have purchased the MFT parts so so i have to learn how to do this instal (I am a low voltage instal tech so i think i have an idea )but the blurry pics are confusing me on the de-pining the base apim and moving them around, then running the usb\sd hub (8 wires) and pinning them to the base apim...Am i missing anything here?

Okay so I took stock of which DTC's I got as a result of my Sync 3 swap in a base, keeping the base ACM. Mostly FCIM stuff, but one in the APIM.

B1A64:15 - Left Solar Sensor

B1A63:15 - Right Solar Sensor

B10B5:15 - Left Panel Air Discharge Temperature

B10B6:15 - Left Floor Air Discharge Temperature

B11E6:14 - Right HVAC Damper Position Sensor

They are not illuminating the malfunction indicator lamp so not the biggest concern, just wondering if anyone that has done the Base to SYNC 2/3 swap has these same error's or recommend what needs to be programmed into the FCIM that would correct these.

Though I suspect that since the vehicle does not have the dual temperature zone, this is the reasoning for the faults.

Question: My voice commands are working normally, and it *seems* like the TTS is working properly. But when I'm listening to (say) an MP3 track and I press the "Hear It" button, the radio goes silent for a beat but nothing happens, no TTS. In my buddy's cars with factory Sync 3 it works as you'd expect, the lady with the robot voice tries to sound out the name of the song your listening to. Tested with the same thumb drive even.

Is this something goofy in my as-built, or is it a result of having a base ACM? I'm wondering if it seems like the TTS is working properly because it partially isn't true TTS. For example, older (and maybe current) Garmin units are this way too with the U.S. language - most all of the words were actually pre-recorded and there wasn't a way to change what was being said. But if you switched to UK English, suddenly everything was TTS and you could change all of it. I.E., instead of "recalculating" when you took a wrong turn, I reprogrammed both of mine to say "god dammit, not this shit again."

What's the issue with have Sirius as a source? I get you don't use it, are you just trying to eliminate a button on the display??
