I have read great things about the MGW but have not had a chance to play with one so have no frame of reference other than the stock shifter. If the MGW fixes the MT82 other than gearing I could live with it. I know that the clutch, flywheel, shifter and driveshaft are on my list of things to upgrade and all of those parts are trans specific so either you buy all that for the MT82 or for your other trans choice. I am having a hard time deciding on investing all those upgrades into the MT82 or doing it on a stronger trans to begin with. I do not like doing things twice and am willing to pay up for the better trans now rather than later. The new trans offers other options like internal fluid pump for external cooler so that is also factoring into my decision.Dave, the 5-4 downshift with the MGW doesn't even require thought. Push in the clutch and give a quick downward flick of the wrist. That's it. Same thing with the 4-3. You can't even begin to compare the stock shifter with the MGW for those kind of shifts.
If you are familiar with Willow Springs, I put in a full track day doing just that going from turn 8 to turn 9. Same going from the front straight into turn 1. I don't even think about the shifter. I'm concentrating more on my late braking points and getting the heel toe dance just right.
For now I am dealing with it and waiting for the stock clutch to go. Once that happens it will be decision time for sure. Thanks for your input its good to know the shifter problem can be solved.
