Harold if you don't mind sharing the dealer who would like you to drive around with a cracked block so we can all avoid doing business with them permanently that would be awesome.

I will not sink them yet. I will be returning to them with information in hand and give them a chance to respond. The 2nd dealer had me verify the location of the crack, checked for fluid leaks, bore scoped the area (revealed crack 2x wider than seen from the outside) and finally concurred with my assessment and acknowledged that no engine should have a crack any where on the block.

But if your engine is working, then ford has until 60000 miles where they dont have to do something.

Im sure there are a lot of things that may not be in "perfect" condition, but until it doesnt work properly "on the street" tgen you really cant complain.

That is a good point. Of course, there must be a limit. If block has a scratch or something from the factory. But I'm 100% confident a crack rises to the level of manufacturing defect. But as a thought experiment it's a valid point.

I dont know. You havent had any issues that you have stated. Just something that you see but seems to have no negative impact on the car or its performance. Ford should tell you to come back when you experience an actual problem before 60000 miles.

I am a man of action and I make things happen. I did not ask anyone to help me or for their opinions of how to handle the situation. I know what needs to be done when a new purchased vehicle under warranty has related failures and or defects. Thanks to Federal protections and state lemon laws, I have all I need to succeed.

I think if any of us were in this situation and had a cracked block, we would be looking for Ford to replace it, regardless if there were any functional problems. What if it was a cracked wheel that still held air? It doesn't have any negative impact on the car or its performance, that is, until it does.

I just don't get why you insist that this isn't a problem? It's a cracked block!!

You wouldn't be saying that if it was your motor, would you be OK with driving around a cracked block?

It seems that some people seem to believe that a problem doesnt exist until the car throws a code doesnt function and this only applies to the street.

I guess using that logic i dont see how this is an issue if nothing occurs within the warranty issue. Its not like his car goes into limp mode after 10 mins of spirited driving

Yeah one actually looses power and the other hasnt had any problems.

It loses power temporarily due to programming put in place due to the vehicle not having coolers. It is called FMEM, or failure mode effects management, and we have had that on Mustangs since the advent of fuel injection on them (1986). Had the car you speak of been ordered with the requisite coolers, FMEM protocols would most likely not have been enacted.

Are you mechanically inclined? Do you understand what fretting corrosion is? Or are you just sore because you feel you are stuck with a car you are not happy with? I am not happy with my car and I will not be stuck with it. I am exercising my protections under The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Maybe you should too.

Ive never said i wasnt happy with my car. Im not happy with how ford handled it marketing and how theyve handled everything since. Basically ignoring it.

You do you and i hope you dont go broke persueing ford.
