The news of a 7 litre is exciting, but I find highly improbable. The tall deck and overhead cams means it just won't fit.

But... I wonder if the larger (than Coyote's) bore spacing could be put to good use. Nothing wrong with having another 5.8.

Despite all the speculation, though, I can't help but feel that Ford won't disaapoint, considering their previous efforts with Trinity and Voodoo.

As much I would love to own a modern Mustang with a mega CID n/a V8, this isn't 1969 or 1970 anymore and Ford is striving to be a green, eco-friendly mobility company.

As I posted many months ago, IMHO, 4.0-4.5L displacement TT V8s are where the sweet spot lies and where the V8 R&D dollars will be spent.

A 7.0L Boss 429 is a pipe dream.
Meanwhile, Dodge just gave the greenies a big ole american middle finger with the release of the Demon. Sad that FCA has more balls to produce a truly american style brash, unapologetic, in your face pavement pounder than Ford.

It would be cool if John could get Ford to bring back the Cobra name.
It would be cool if Ford could get Ford to bring back John Coletti. For those that haven't read it, I suggest you pick up a copy of Iron Fist, Lead Foot: John Coletti and Ford's Terminator.

Mustang history tells us what is to come! It's no secret.
1967 GT500 had a 428 7.0L so we will see a 2017 GT500 428 7.0L with limited production of as few as 3 made with a 2017 my.
1968 GT500KR had a 428 7.0L "cobra jet" so we will see a 2018 GT500KR 428 7.0L with a "cobra jet"
Mustang history also tells us that we should expect a Cobra III in the next decade, with an anemic 140 HP and a 10.5 second 0-60. It also tells us that 2019, the Mustang will be replaced with a wedge-shaped front-wheel drive car that will eventually be called the Probe.

GTFOH with this.

A supercharged 5.2 CPC is just too easy and unexciting. It should beat the ZL1 so not taking any chances, this is cheapest / easiest way to do it.

could not agree more. If it's going to be a supercharged 5.2 FPC, it will be a massive dissapointment.

You are absolutely correct! I'm sure Ford after seeing what Dodge has done with the Demon knows they have to bring something very special. If they don't it will just be white noise! Like it or not in car guy terms Dodge swung for the fences! It's Fords turn to bat!!

I do think Ford is developing some version of a halo-type Mustang package, but one having the goal to merely compete with the ZL1 and Demon, not necessarily to be the top dog.
They will be content to settle for second or third place in the 21st century "ponycar" battle.

IMHO...with all of the focus on green technology/2021 Mustang hybrid, the current corporate and product leadership team has revealed their direction and desire for the future of the Mustang and all Ford performance vehicles...the application of both Ecoboost and hybrid technologies.
