Ford Motor Company of Australia Limited — Ford Mustang
PRA No. 2017/15966, Date published: 9 Mar 2017, Campaign number: 15S40
Target number: 1,391

5.0L Mustang vehicles built from May 27, 2015 through March 1, 2016.

What are the defects?
A number of 5.0L Mustang vehicles may have reduced clearance between the battery cable wiring loom and the exhaust manifold.
What are the hazards?
On these vehicles it is possible that the wiring loom could contact the manifold and result in a short circuit, potentially resulting in an engine compartment fire. At the time of publication there had been no reported occurrences in Australia.
What should consumers do?
Ford will write to owners of all affected vehicles. Owners are advised to contact their Ford authorised dealership for inspection and rectification.
For further information, contact any authorised Ford Dealer or Ford's Customer Relationship Centre on 1800 503 672.

Had my car in for it's 12/12 service and fix a few odds and ends. Rang the service guy earlier today and asked him about this recall and he thanked me for reminding him and added it to the service.

Wonder if people with aftermarket headers will have an issue or some of the installers may have dealt with it? Obviously when installing they would be looking for clearance issues.

Thanks for the heads up, interesting I put my VIN in ETIS yesterday out of curiosity and it showed "outstanding field service action" i went to ford AU site and the messaging window came up so i asked if there was any outstanding actions for my vehicle, they came back and said it was up to date so guess we will wait and see.

This issue was fixed on the assembly line somewhere around October 2015. I had a look under the bonnet at mine again and it has been done at the factory. Not sure why Ford Aus are getting involved now....I am guessing there is some sort of government requirement to make sure it has been implemented. From memory, the service repair was listed on ETIS if the car had been released from the factory before the fix.

Received a phone call from Ford Au this arvo, informing me that my car is in the recall. They advised a half day needed. Dealer said 30 minutes.

Checked ETIS - it's showing outstanding field service - battery cable. Built
t 11/12/15.

Russ, I just went back into ETIS and it shows up on mine now too. Back in 2015 when the car was built, and this defect was first raised, it didnt appear. But it did on cars that were built earlier.
They must be doing a double check on their fixes. Unless the original fix was not that successful. The loom being tied back with one thin ziptie doesn't look that substantial.

Thanks for the heads up, mine would be in that batch.

Going in for service soon so I'll remind the dealer when I book her in.
