Steeda Adj Pro Actions for Autox

Anybody have a chance to run these yet? If so where did you set them? I'll be putting them on Friday night and going to an event Sunday. They will have Steeda linear sport springs on them with Steeda camber plates.

Start at 1.5 turns from soft. Should be on the money.

I had them last year for f street and loved them. Using them still in STP trim with gt350r springs, I haven't had a chance to run them in autocross trim yet this year.

Here was my line of thinking when I co drove Analog's FS car with its first runs on Konis:

I set the front rebound full firm -1/4 turn
I set rear rebound midway

If we got throttle on understeer off corners I would consider reducing front rebound. It didn't happen.

If the rear over rotated on entry or skipped sideways across bumps mid corner I would consider reducing rear rebound. Neither happened. I wanted to try more rear rebound but we forgot a jack and the car was handling awesome anyway.

If it was wet I'd set front and rear full soft. We had nice, mild weather for our runs.

With those initial settings I could attack the crap out of slaloms and the car was nicely balanced in and out of turns. I was the fastest FS driver in a very tough class that day.

Going for alignment here in a few. Gonna get -2.2 on camber, 0 toe, and as much caster as possible. Gonna hit some curvy roads on the way home as a test before tkmorrow.

Alignment done, 0 toe -2.1 camber. These shocks dont feel in stiffer in normal road driving, they seem to absorb the bumps a lot better than the PP shocks with Steeda springs. Gonna lean on em a bit later.

I did my first AutoX in the Mustang with these and, at the time, Ultralite springs at Steeda Pony Wars on 20" wheels and Cooper RS3-S tires that were about 60% used up. I got the best time of any attendee as far as I could tell (albeit, this was not an official sanctioned sort of event and not much competition, really... I mean one guy went around in a Crown Vic, which was hilarious). Anyway, I was seemingly only bested by one of the people who put on the AutoX event in a Fiesta ST (was a pretty tight course). So, weightless bragging aside, I had front and back set to 1.5 and sway bars set to middle in the rear and second to stiff in the front (which is really not right for AutoX with Steeda bars, IMHO). I was very happy with how the car handled MOSTLY. On the last 180* sweep, if I gassed too much I'd unfortunately understeer, which has always been exacerbated by the Cooper tires since I've had them. A video can be seen of the run below (including met spinning out on another run at the end... but I was being kind of reckless when that happened, haha. Point being, I think they're great for AutoX. I do hear folks like the Koni Yellows in that environment (stiffer) but if you really want to step it up, and can do so in your class, get the upcoming Steeda Dual Rate springs. I think I may be the first to have them, installed yesterday at Steeda in Valdosta, and OMFG do they make this car proper good. Anyway, on that particular course, I'm sure someone with more AutoX experience would have eaten me for breakfast, but I had fun. I learned a lot in a short period of time on how to handle the car, so it was really great.

I dont get too competitive in Auto X. Afterall its just driving around cones in a parking lot. Im just going to play around. Ive put about 100mi on it today on bumpy back roads and they feel pretty good at 1.5 turns.

Josh is being modest. He crushed a very full FS class last year in the KC region. Most weekends, he also beat the majority of the CAM cars.

Finished last in CAM today but did improve 6 seconds over the course of 6 runs. First autocross in years and first autocross with new suspension. Lot we ran on runs downhill and the portions where the nose was pointed downhill it developed a push. Dropped air pressure 2 psi and turned the shocks in a half turn. Took the push out for the most part and made it more tail happy which was fun. Definitely takes the bounce out that the PP shocks have which makes these shocks worth it.

Did pick up a weird popping noise from the left rear when turning left at low speed, like parking speed. Anybody experienced this. Almost sounds like diff or outer wheel bearing.

That can be a lot of things but I had a clunk forever and finally realized my toe arm bearing on one side was shot somehow. Dealer replaced it. Zero clunks now. They didn't believe me but I convinced them to do it and... success.
