While I'm sure a mobile app would have the potential to be much more flexible, Ford (and most hardware manufacturers) have come a long way in terms of adopting modern software standards of firmware and software upgradability. In all reality, the camera in your cell phone is going to be comparable in quality as a go-pro or PDR. If you want a different zoom or perspective, buy one of the many available optical lenses for your phone.
As for the camera mount...if you can trust a go-pro mount on the outside of your vehicle driving 100+mph, why can’t you trust one to hole your camera inside of the vehicle?
The other beauty of using a phone and app is, it is much more readily updatable. The camera is updateable. You can likely add an external mic if you want. Because it would be app based, it would be much more updateable (tracks, extra features etc.) You can instantly edit an upload your data, share it, stream it etc.
Quite frankly, the only thing a built-in system provides is a valet mode video record, and the ability to more easily record every driving encounter.
Rumor is that they'll have a new driving mode called Cars and Coffee, which will drive you out of a parking lot, pull on to a road, and safely drive you away from potential carnage. And the "Pre-Collision Assist with pedestrian detect, distance alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, driver alert system and forward-facing camera" will be very handy after a visit to the pub for we baby boomers or whilst FaceBooking for the millennials.
No need to watch the road or worry about nodding off.
LoL ... It would have to have Cars & Coffee event auto-sensing ability, and kick-in with no over-ride option to be useful.Rumor is that they'll have a new driving mode called Cars and Coffee, which will drive you out of a parking lot, pull on to a road, and safely drive you away from potential carnage.
No, that's how the "NOT C&C" mode works. The "C&C" mode gives full throttle while alternatingly locking one different random wheel every 1/2 second.Rumor is that they'll have a new driving mode called Cars and Coffee, which will drive you out of a parking lot, pull on to a road, and safely drive you away from potential carnage.

Notice that is a Performance Pack with the automatic transmission.nice red interior video included
.....not to mention the accompanying narrative/muzak.What a massive difference in camera work between those two videos. Watching that second one makes me nauseous. Some people really have no clue how to shoot a decent video.

I like those nickel finish wheels and the color stripe on the door panel. Looks sharp. I still see that they're cobbling together the show cars though (very common). You'll note the car has the premium leather seats installed but the climate controls are for a Recaro-optioned car (no heated/cooled seat controls).Notice that is a Performance Pack with the automatic transmission.
The ones I saw in Detroit didn't have the analog gauges - I don't think I've seen a show car yet with them to be honest.Has anyone that's gotten up close to a 2018 with analog gauges been able to get a shot or look at whether the gauges and font are the same or different than the 15-17s?
