OK so i've go the car back

My advice based on this would be:

- If you have a 2015, you might be missing all the protection, including the injected stuff. Id have that checked out.

Glad you have you're car back and is protected as should have been from the start!

I do have a 15 (first shipments to Belgium) and although the black stuff is only on some parts and poorly done, the dealer told me I have the transparent thing as well.
Redoing it all was a no go for them so I will do it at my own expense.

I do have the doors/boot/seams protection though, this was one of the first things I noticed when my car was parked in the sun the first few days...

Here in NL, the lack of under-seal (or any defect) which you wish to go legal on needs to be notified within 3 months of purchase (or so I was told by my legal insurance). Whether thats an EU or a specific NL thing im not sure, but its worth bearing in mind).

In the UK you have 6 years from the date of purchase to make a claim, under EU law you have at least 2 years minimum in every EU country.

There is a seperate UK law that gives you 90 days not just to get a fix or compensation but to actually cancel the contract in full and have the retailer pay any other costs related to returning the goods (e.g. insurance). But for this one you would have to show that you asked or were told that the car would have underseal before you bought the car.

While there may be an upper limit I think no law can demand you to make claims before you are aware of the issue... I've still not had mine in with Ford due to various issues (really lost faith in the dealer near me :( )

Was under the car today and noticed a few little dings in the underseal I had done, just shows it is worth getting done as had I not it would have taken chunks out of the paint work.

Righto.

Unfortunately the place that did mine deleted the bloody photos... so I went back along today and we put it on the ramp so I could take a look.

Its a bit different to what I was expecting to be honest. But it looks good, OEM infact. Probably what Zeebrugge should be turning out if they werent lazy gits.

This was about €400, but Ford have paid the bill. I wouldnt compare it necessarily to what Modurstang are doing with the Raptor stuff - but the underside of my car was stripped of the plastic cladding, exhaust removed etc.

Considering my car was BARE metal around the front 1/3 of the car and front sub-frame, this is obviously a drastic improvement.













Is it the best job ever - no.

Is it OK for, considering it was free - yes.

Mine has been dropped off at the nearest Dinitrol authorised place today for its full treatment. He is taking before and after pictures so I will post them on Wednesday when I get the car back. They seem to do mainly Japanese imports, classic restorations and land rovers so it will be interesting to see what they make of the "standard" protection on the stang.

Update.
My car has been with the garage for 2 full days now, and I collect it tomorrow. I got the following update from the garage today by way of a condition report:

Thank you for choosing Duke Street Garage for the rustproofing of your vehicle , your vehicle has been underbody treated using only dinitrol wax products.

As you know your car was in excellent condition and we aim to keep it that way, if you ever feel you need a touch up or a top up please give us a call and we will be happy to help its better to keep on top of things than worry further down the line.

I have included various photos of before and after the treatment as you can see your car only had a layer of paint protecting your car in certain places and no inner cavity protection in others.


They also attached 25 photos of the car with the trims removed before waxing, and the same number of photos post treatment and prior to the plastic liners being re installed so I can compare the two. See here for examples.

All in all I'm happy I had it done and can recommend the place that did it 100%

Funnily enough it cost the same as the top 1/2 and it's detail with ceramic coating. So spent £550 painting bits that most people will never see in wax... time will tell I guess if this mod was money well spent.

I think what I really liked about the Raptor stuff was that it is like rubber, so can breathe and stuff will just bounce off of it. Also have known Mike for a few years and know he only deals with the Best stuff around.
So this stuff is rock hard?

I will let you know when I collect it... it's Dinitrol which is what many manufacturers use as oem. It's not a bad price seeing as it's a 2.5 day process with loads of steam cleaning and muck to deal with before they even start. They also warrant the work with free annual checkups and any remedial work is free for the time you own the vehicle.
