Lightweight wheel suggestions

Hey all,

As it's winter season here over the wall, it's time to switch up the shoes for the car. I was running 20" Niche Targa before and loved the way they looked. As I started getting into drag and road racing, I started to value wheel weight more and more.

Currently I'm on the hunt for a home run type of deal:

- Light
- Looks
- As easy as it can be on the wallet

Locally I've been able to find this Fast FC04 (https://www.fastwheels.ca/productinfo.aspx?wn=fc04&fn=matte+bronze) wheel which is basically it, but it looks practically like my Targa's and I want something fresh. However, 19x9.5 at 20lb/wheel for under $400/wheel is hard to beat.

What I'm looking for some suggestions from you guys regarding which wheels should I consider. I've looked through many threads (particularly this JDM wheel thread that popped up) but it's hard to judge if a wheel fits all my needs. Things to consider:

- I want 19s
- This is my daily
- I want to get into road corse / autoX in the Summer
- It would be nice to have a step lip

Hmmm..... well normally you would have everyone in the forum shoot over some ideas for you but you have to compromise certain things in order to get other requirements lol,

I can not speak for others but I can recommend something from our side, on money value I would recommend our M350 Flowforged wheel.

19x10 and 19x11 24lb each retail value is $1500.00 a set
you will need absolutely no mods to install is a direct Ford mustang fit.

if you want to step it up we can do our full custom Flow Forged FS01 or FS02
available in more options 19x8.5, 19x9.5, 19x10, 19x10.5, 19x11
these are completely custom and built to order, 19" retail starting price is 2100.00

There are a number of great options that work out in your benefit.

Since you are looking to put the wheels to the test a more catered wheel to the S550 platform would work in your benefit to reduce the option of Hubcentric rings ( nothing wrong with them though) but for the price range you desire you can find wheels that work in your liking.

The M350 and the FS01 or FS02 work best reason to this is they are flow forge design so they are light, they are wide which is a plus for optimal contact patch and they are catered for the S550 in mind.

There is also the Forgestar wheel brand that can be created in 19" fitment and in the price range you desire as well.

Are there wheels that look like Advan GTs or Work CR2P (step lip) but don't break the bank? I absolutely understand why the above mentioned wheels are so expensive, but I'm not ready for that kind of purchase yet.

As for M350 wheels, I considered it, but looks wise it's not something I'd go for right away and the Fast wheel I linked is 4lb lighter.

Those 2 styles you stated are hard to find a option that fits the bill in the price range you stated.

These are another good option yes. Pricing is pretty good as well.

I think I might have settled for which wheels to get. After contemplating and talking to others, I decided to go with 18s for dual duty (daily and track).

Specifically WedsSport SA-55M 18x10 +36 5x114.3

Can anyone confirm that these will fit offset wise?

My other question is the cb on these wheels is 73mm and our cars are 70.5. Since I plan to track (once a month), should I go with plastic or aluminum hub rings? I know plastic can melt and aluminum will expand, but I don't know if it will cause any issues.

P.S. I will need to take the wheels off every winter and likely mid Summer to rotate.

Those will work brotha, and I can get those for you if you desire.

Now you can use the hubrings no issues with that and I would say the regular hard plastic is fine because sometimes on the Alu rings if your hub is rusted and you dont clean it and lube them then itll seize up on them and its hell to get them off.

You are correct, however we have a new forged wheel thats able to be made in 18" that will clear the bigger brakes under 2400 for a set, exclusive through us.

$600 a wheel is not reasonably priced in my book. And a big step up from the <$400 range the OP mentioned.

But just for the hell of it, how light?
The Enkei 18x10s are 18.5lbs for ~$375.

Sorry to hijack but what is the widest tire on the M350 19x10 and 19x11 without rubbing. Rim looks good and light. hard to beat for the price!

Ive seen rears at 305, 315 and up to 325 rear series tire.

We normally do a 285/325 tire combo no issues, that being said a good bang for the buck is the Hankook K120
