Sorry if this question seems ridiculous, but can I just pour my catch can oil back into the motor? I have been dumping it out in my used oil container, but it seems like a complete waste. Car sees no track use, driver side catch can is always bone dry, passenger side catch can with 1-2oz every 1,000 miles or so. The only possible source of contamination I see is if dirt falls into the catch can as I'm removing it. I have the JLT 3.0 cans that hold 3oz each.

BTW, if you don't have at least a passenger side catch can, you MUST get one. With how much it catches it should have come from the factory with one.

A good question. On a related note, what does your installation look like? Here are two photos of mine. The smaller hose looks like it's just too long and as a result, the hose is crimped. I spoke to a Ford Performance rep and he said it should be fine as along as it's not crimped completely shut. Thoughts on my photos?

Recycle. I wouldn't put it in the engine. It's going to have water, HC byproducts of combustion, etc. in it. It's such a small amount of oil, I value my engine too much to risk putting that back into it.

Might be worth somebody getting it analyzed and posting the results, seems like something worth knowing.

Brent,
I don't think that strange bend matters, mine of course look very different as my JLT separators come with their own hoses, the one on the driver's side is awkwardly long, but I think it prevents crimping.

My drivers side (also Ford Performance) is spot on in terms of fit. This just looked a bit funky to me. Thanks -

I would take a pic for you, but today is winter in Northern Florida, 33 degrees outside, no way I'm going in my garage, must be 50 in there, lol.

I spent some time trying to adjust mine to keep it as straight as possible. I just performed the installation yesterday.

That looks great. Can you get the part number off the small hose; I'd like to start there.

Do not pour it back into the engine. The whole point is to get it OUT of your engine. I use an empty oil bottle. When I get close to filling it, I'll take it to my local NAPA and have it recycled. Based on the amount of oil I recently removed, it will take 5 years to fill a bottle;)

There are cars (Camaro) that have catch cans that dump back into the oil. The reason is it would be another maintenance item the user would have to deal with. I don't really see the point of catching it if it just going to be dumped back into the engine.

It's 5 degrees outside now and if my garage was 33 I'd be out there :-)
It's -2 here. I'm going out to the pole barn where the GT350 is parked and turn on the heat shortly. :headbang:
