I personally Jetwash, snowfoam, 2 bucket, jetwash, dry mine i'm doing a typical clean, if i'm going for a deep clean, after second jetwash, i'll add on wet wax / alloy cleaner etc. If i'm going for a meet/event i'll claybar etc the car :)

Product wise, i'm not impartial to favouritism/brandism, use what you know and you like, which you'll only find form trying out a lot of different products ;)!

At first I was using the 2 bucket method shampoo and wax but now it's car wash and a quick wipe over.

Tesco car wash.webp

Yes seriously, I use this Tesco car wash but since it caught fire I use the one at BP :)

Its more how to use the products and in what order - a lot of the products are similar in what they do.
My golden rule and everyone has their own is never touch the car without snowfoam as first step. Dont even hose, it or jet it- you want to drag dirt off slowly and not drive it in to the paint. But we all do things differently but I am extremely sad in such matters and even blow dry the car rather then wipe it....................i will get my coat.

Well son of a bitch. That does make sense! So many different methods, different orders, different products. I change my method as I learn more :) might give the above a try though.

I think generally you get what you pay for though. I use a lot of Autoglm products. Not horrendously expensive and miles better than any of the cheap and cheerful stuff.

I have emailed a local detailing company today asking if they can do a "quick clean" i.e. nothing too fancy. May well pick up some tips (and products) from them

I admit to snow foaming then hosing off followed by snowfoaming and jetting it off..... If i could recommend one product that stands out as the best product I have ever used it would be Optimum No Rinse. You can use it when out and about to wash cars or one bucket method at home. Somehow it lifts dirt off and never seems to leave swirls. I am trying to be less obsessive with this car. Had it two weeks and washed it once....thats a miracle for me.

The paint on mine is sooo shit that I fully expect to have to respray it at some point.

I was also doing the 2 buckets but now I just let it get dirty and drive it :D

I've had Guard-x put on mine... fine membrane around the paintwork...
Now, just use plain old micro-fibre cloth soaked in warm/hot water to remove dust and shite...
Then chamois leather to dry, followed by spray shine wax and buff off...

All done within 20-30mins... Never take it to car wash or jet wash...

Always brings it back to showroom finish... probs even better!

Priscilla is a bit of a dirty girl right now, teasing me with all the salt and cruddy shit that's thrown up from the road at the minute.

After this weekends latest weather forecast, I'll wait until it's drier and then give her a good old seeing to :D

Recently replenned with 20 litres of Ultimate Finish snow foam and a new Wookie wash mitt, she's getting clayed, polished and then waxed.

Another top tip when claying, obviously the car will be free of debris, use a high concentration of a good quality snow foam and shampoo as a lube, applied by a snow Lance, amazing results. Purists will be agahast at this

I watch a YouTube channel Obsessed Garage. Lots of good info on methods of cleaning/detailing. He's recently bought a GT350 and has a 13 step video on new car prep. Pretty good stuff
They are really interesting. I was surprised he went straight from foam to mitt on the GT350 without rinsing off. If I did that I'd have no paint left. Maybe he already cleaned it once.

Get a ceramic coating then it's a snow foam, rinse, mitt and shampoo and dry.

She's mint, I'm happy.
