So, this darn (mythical?) pony emblem supposedly embossed on the underside of the bonnet, and revealed when defrosting on an icy day (through engine warmth) - is it real? Has anyone seen it? It's discussed here (at 19m22s):

...but still no pictures.

Until NOW! So, am I like a religious zealot seeing Jesus in a slice of toast, or is something forming here? Alas, that was as good as it gets.

Squint, and you can almost see it.

 think you have gone mad mate! Gave up on that a long time ago...I saw a photo recently of a US car with the bonnet open. Can clearly see the pony on the underside. Guessing we didn't get it in Europe

Probably - but why? More to the point, I've not found any pics of US cars with their ponies slowly appearing on the defrosting hood. Does it simply not work? :headbonk:

You may laugh at me now, but later...you'll probably still laugh at me (it's true that I have been on an all-nighter with the Christmas Bailey's)

Would love to know to be honest. Another really cool little feature like the puddle lights. We could always ask Ford? Just for a giggle!

From the guys that've actually peeked under the insulation, EB >DOESN'T< have this, but a GT apparently does.

However regardless, t's shocking and doesn't work as intended by any stretch, i've personally never seen a single car on the forums do it successfully baring the one guy on facebook who cut a pony out of snow on his hood :p

If Twin Turbo is free he can show you the patents for more of this kind of technology ford filed for a few months ago which include other heated 'decals'.

Thought you meant this until I noticed the Mickey Mouse ears vaguely appearing on the bonnet ;)

Yeah, I think even Ford realised it doesn't work as intended. However, they're now looking to go step further!

I think the bit I've put in bold will be the important bit. I'm assuming it'll effectively be a heating element under the hood, rather than just relying on engine heat.

"Essentially, a system of heat-emitting and heat-absorbing “thermal structures” would be placed on the inside of the hood and hooked into a controller, creating a “heat transmission structure for forming heat generated graphics through the use of moisture and precipitation in and around the vehicle.” Essentially, these contraptions would use heat to make a pattern or design on the hood (and possibly doors and other surfaces in the future), in this case, the Mustang’s iconic pony"

I think at best you might have one of Picasso's Cubism's there!

Love to see someone try and run this by Ford's warranty department... !

For what it's worth....the S197 just had a couple of little ponies embossed into the hood insulation. Here's mine:
