Yup, I can see which way this is going... It's getting a bit like the old Clarkson review of an M3 I saw again on a Top Gear rerun.

"I've just come to a stop backwards and in a cloud of tyre smoke, Why would I care about saving petrol? Stupid thing!" (after the traffic lights fuel saver had cut in).

Can someone set up a voting button? I can't seem to work it out on the iPad. I am sure we could find some suitable voting options? :)

God, can't believe this thread has me shouting at my phone:rant: Please go and get the poor thing, so I'm able to sleep at night:D:paddle:

Like others have said, it does no good at all sitting for so long - turning the engine over every now and again is no good either as needs to be properly up to temp. Sitting for a while is something I need to combat every winter with my '65, change all fluids, jack up on axle stands, cover and that's in a lovely warm garage. Still try to get it out for a spin when salt/temp not too bad

I'm also in the same boat, waiting until April 1st. Slightly less of a wait for me though as the car isn't expected to be at the dealers until January.

Still going to be a long couple of months wait and will include a lot of drive-bys.

so would i..my american cars are never left alone EVER. overnight i'de be a bundle of nerves.
why u waiting till the 1st of april btw?
Yep my S197 was driven all year round, and my CS will be
One thing, how much will a new respray cost on that car? as its parked near a tree, and we all know that Bird Poo contains acid and needs to be taken off the car very quick
Why don't you buy a cover for it, and put it on as it's being left outdoors?
This is what your car will be covered in, sorry if people are eating

Unlike mammals, birds have no bladder because they do not store liquid wastes. Birds pass their urine into a common chamber used for digestive and urinary wastes. This chamber, called the cloaca, also contains reproductive by-products. So, when a bird lets go with a "bomb" it contains white uric acid crystals and a bunch of digestive wastes like insect parts and seeds.

oh and a quick question how much have you spent on Mods?

My car lasted two days on a dealer forecourt until someone reversed into the side of it. When the replacement arrives I will be removing it to safety asap as I couldn't deal with the urge to call the dealer every day to check it was safe.

I wish you luck.. let's hope the scratches will polish out as the wait second time round is even more painful.

I'm with the OP, definately the right decision waiting. Car will be worth a lot more come resale time if its only 140 a year to tax. 3 months is nothing in the grand scheme of things, and a good time of year to keep the car of those damp salty roads. ...

It''ll definitely be preferable for resale to have a April '17 car.

Worth waiting a few weeks perhaps, but 3 months rotting in a dealer's car park is a bit extreme.

Apart from the discs and battery, aren't there other things like condensation build up in the fuel tank etc.

Remarkable! Snap out of it, get it for Christmas and you have a very funny story to tell! It's a gift to get to make a rationale decision and it be the one that gives you prize immediately! I know you've waited this long, so waiting another 3.5 months won't kill you but the upside isnt worth it :)

So let me get this right, the first you will see of this tax saving of £360 is in April 2018? And that is a big enough saving for you to wait months to get the car?! Peanuts in the scheme of things - 4 tanks of fuel.

The new tax system is criminal, the government have had us all shifting to Eco boxes with low CO and cheap tax and now their road tax income will have fallen massively over the past few years they're now levelling everybody at £140 a year unless you have a zero emission car:frusty:
This will have more of an impact on high mpg cars that this year may have been £20 to tax, but buy the same vehicle next year and it'll be £140:eyebulge: By your logic, this will have the inverse affect and people will be rushing out to buy all the golfs and Kia's before April then:headbonk:

.....but laying out an extra £1000 in April 2017, so first actual saving is April 2020.
