Paul Gover has a long history of criticizing Ford, but this takes the cake; In his justification for excluding the Mustang from the Cars Guide 'Car of the Year' award in today's Car Guide in the Herald Sun, he claims the car is "not good enough as a drive'.

I wouldn't worry. Paul Glover is an absolute moron and knows nothing about cars. He even canned the Merc C-Class coupe, Volvo and Magane which are some of the best cars going around. They only pick the cars and makers that fill his pockets..

But you know what? The cabin IS cheap - my 2007 Lexus is nicer. Does it worry me? No. Is it bad? No - who cares if some of the plastic trim doesn't sit down on the carpet, or the carpet has panels cut into it, or whatever, its still nice and its better than some crummy fabric interior on an 80s shitbox. Yay.

One of the best things about the Mustang is the massive aftermarket - you can make the car what you want, and for anyone who wants to personalize their car, THAT can go a long way and it certainly makes up for any shortcomings in interior trim or driving dynamics. BUT, that doesn't make it into a review.

True, but it is the world's best selling sports car, even in hitech-land Germany, and most people seem happy to run them in stock form, or near to it.

They are good value for money in stock form for people who seek a sporty and comfortable trip, not necessarily the fastest, bone-jarring race track type trip.

Bang-for-buck is great; Stock form is 'good enough' for most.
Herrod say they've done 50 superchargers in Australia; Harrop has done a few (that I know of )... not sure how many StreetFighter have done...

Survey says there are about 6,500 in Australia => at least 1% of Mustangs in Australia have already had _major_ power upgrades, and then there's those that have had suspension, exhaust, tunes, CAIs, etc done.

I didn't want to say what you did but I tend to agree except for one thing. Design and looks must come into it somewhere and I think this is one of the best looking cars on the road. Anyone who knows I have a Mustang coming can't stop asking me about it. It doesn't matter what car they drive or like this particular model of Mustang seems to be like crap to a fly to most people. Looks and how the car makes you feel must come into it somewhere. As a reviewer he has missed the point and left out a vital criteria for all the cars he reviewed as far as I am concerned.

Still I don't really care what he thinks anyway I am just hanging for mine to turn up which it does just after Christmas.

Agreed. I see those funny little rabbit cars they call MX5s and I snicker at how silly they look

Bang for buck, looks and the aftermarket bring it up above so many other cars, for sure!

I've had mine for three months now. The interior IS cheap, and the plastic scuffs like crazy. The panels in the carpet are also an unpleasant surprise. Mine opened up this week so the car has to go back to the dealer.

Does this make me regret buying the car? Not at all. I agree with the person who said the shape is outstanding. It's a really good looking car and seems to draw attention because it's different to all the German cars. It also has the V8 rumble that never gets old. For the price I think it is great buying, regardless of what this one reviewer said.

All I can say is I love diving mine each and every day that I can, be it just around the corner or a long drive to the blue mountains etc. Every chance I get I drive the stang and I would sooner drive it than my supercharged xr6 falcon. It a fantastic car to drive and dam good fun. Far as Im concerned Paul Glover is a douche and he has absolutely no Idea of what he is on about.
