HI All,
This my be frivolous, so feel free to ignore at your leisure.

Yesterday's journey - 1050km, in 11 hours and 13 minutes. A drive from Perth to the South Coast near Albany and then back to Perth Via Denmark, Bridgetown and Bunbury. A mixture of freeways, open highways and single lane roads (and even some dirt roads), with light traffic throughout. All in all, I have to say that the Mustang truly lives up to its GT name. Some highlights :

Cruising up to 30m+ road trains at 115, dumping it into fifth and flooring it to find yourself doing 160 and past the truck in no time at all!

11 hours+ of driving and no back pains or achining muscles - she's a pleasure to drive!

The looks and pointing and smiles in all the country towns as your drop down to the obligatory 50km/h....I suppose the lower speed limit has its advantages!

Excellent fuel consumption - overall for the trip 9.3L/100km. Very very happy with that.

I can highly recommend doing at least one big trip like this. You wont regret it.

Cheers
Richard

That's one heck of a drive! I'll be heading down to Albany during xmas time to visit my family there too. :D Probably take a couple days prior to the weekend so there's less traffic. :D Thankfully there's no average speed cameras in production use yet in WA. But they're coming. There's a trial one installed recently heading north I believe. :(

Very comfortable. I've done four 1,000 mile days and a couple of 800 mile days in recent road trips. I won't mention speeds on advice from counsel.

Did you stop and take pics? If you go on long country drives like that you can get some real good photos on some nice straight roads off into the horizon!

Geez, the mileage you guys are getting is Toyota Prius like. Your just not trying hard enough guys. MaxQ the 9.9 has to be an EB right?

For the first month of ownership I was getting 18.8L/100ks, then it settled down to a steady 17.7L/100ks. All city driving. But on a 600k round trip (which included a tune at the half way point) it has dropped to what I thought was a really low 15.4L/100ks. I had the previous V8 M3 and for the years that I owned it, it was always at 16.8L/100ks

around the 9L/100 is pretty normal for the V8's. Even my 302kw BF Super Pursuit averaged 9.4L on a trip down south and my tuned GS ute did 8.9L to Busselton and back.

Inspired by Richard's drive I've decided to do something similar. So here I am in Canberra after 6 hours (un)fortunately I will spend the night there and back home in the morning.
Average consumption 9.1lt/100km and speed 104km/h
I will try to post some pictures (if not successful tomorrow when I am back).
