Need a little help guys. I can't seem to compress the BMR spring enough to fit the upper mount on. I've maxed out my spring compressor and can't get it to go any further. It is about 1/4" too long. Also, it looks like the strut is compressed about 1" more than the fully assembled strut. I can't even get the stock spring back on!

Any tips/tricks to get that last bit I need? Thanks in advance.

Can you grab more windings of the spring to make it compress more? Might be that you need a larger compressor.

A pic of what you got going on would help. Haven't heard of any issues like this per say.

Thanks for the reply. The winding of the BMR spring is preventing me from being to grab an additional winding on 1 side. So I have 2 windings on 1 side and 1 on the other. I'll try some other configurations to see if anything works. All the youtube videos made this look easy.

You should be close. Try compressing the one a little more and you should be able to get the nut started.

those compressors are worthless, I had a terrible time using them, you really need the clam shell type, or take it to a nearby shop, pay them $15-$20 to compress the spring(s) for you

I kinda figured you were using that type, l just hate using those damn things myself. These's are better, harbor freight has them.
Still it seems you should be able to grab that one top coil to get a bit more compression?

Thanks for all the help guys. I bought a clamshell type and had the springs on in under 10 minutes. Guess I should have invested in the better type to start. :headbonk:

No kidding. Between the shorter BMR coil and the shield at the lower spring perch I was seriously contemplating life choices.

Did you get one of the harbour freight jobs?

I used ones similar to what you have and didn't have any issues. I did have to hand turn one with a wrench because the factory strut housing is wide at the bottom, but it worked ok. You needed to grab higher on the spring. Anyhow, you got it done. I keep telling myself to buy the better kind, but then I only use them once every few years. lol

Everything is put back together and now there is a clunk at low speeds when going over a bump or turning. I double checked the upper strut mounts and they are torqued properly. I made sure to torque everything down when installing. This spring install has been the death of me.
