I was recently investigating some brake ducting for my GT350R and I came across some cooling provisions that seem almost incomplete. On the front of the GT350 there are ducts that direct air to the inner fender towards the brakes but nothing directly directing them at the rotors. I then came across some pics of the Ford Performance Front Control Arm Kit (I guess which apparently comes stock on the Performance Pack equipped S550). On it are some air deflectors that mount to some existing holes. Does anyone know if these air deflectors are available separately from Ford? Part Number? Or is the only way to get it by buying the Ford performance M-3075-F kit? Thanks.

I don't have an answer to your question specifically, but as is these brakes hold up just fine even during extreme use. I have a track pack, and during my last track day, I ran extremely hard on the brakes for a 45 minute session, in 85° weather with no problems, Oem pads and fluid (I upgraded to castrol srf for my next hpde just to be safe). And that was with the heavy track pack wheels. With the lighter weight of the R wheels I'm pretty sure you have nothing to be concerned about. Just my 2 pennies.

Thanks. I kinda figured but I was thinking if these air deflectors could be available as a simple bolt on any kind of cooling would be helpful even if just to increase pad life while on track. Also seeing as the deflectors look super easy to bolt on it would easily remove them for street driving.

Op I took a look at front control arm too and I did notice the pre-drilled holes, and right away my instinct is those are pre-drilled for some kind of shield to defect air to the brakes.

I am looking for the same solution as well. When I have time I may give FP a call.

well, spoke with FP just now, those deflectors are for non-GT350s performance pack, and they are needed cause their cooling design is not as sufficient as ours.

Yah I figured but it would be nice if they were available separately. I'm kinda half tempted to buy that kit just for the deflectors. Might see if anyone from Ford would know at SEMA.

you don't need the whole kit, just 2 arms if you want to get the deflector.

part number is 3078A
$102 each MSRP (which means other big internet dealers will sell for less), you need the performance pack version

Is there enough room and place on the fascia to run a real duct in these cars? S197 was easy to run a 4" duct. For the track, everything you can do is going to be beneficial on a heavy car no matter how big the caliper is.

Interesting idea. I looked up FR3Z3078D and it seems to be the right side arm and sells for $66. So possibly 130ish for two brake cooling deflectors.

It already has directional rotors and cooling ducts which directs the air to the rotors. Many GT350's, including mine has and all the Track attack cars see heavy brake use on the track and have no additional ducts. I would venture to say that cooling is a non-issue.

I can confirm these are on the PP cars. I noticed them when I changed the front struts. Didn't realize it's for brake air. Neato.

Yup, atleast with the stock pads you can hammer on the brakes for a very long time and still have more front brake than you have tire to use it. One of the reasons I'd love to try a GT350 with proper slicks to see just how much brake it DOES have when it has more tire than brake.

I get they are baddest ass brakes ever on a Mustang - happy about that for sure. But my question is whether or not there is room for a direct feeding duct. The only thing I wish for on the brakes is a thicker pad (well maybe a more conventional replaceable rotor ring) but i honestly never would expect a .980 pad on a production car. Believe me, at the speed potential and weight of this car, extra fresh air can only help brake wear when the car is pushed. It's not a Miata. Thankfully. And it's not a race car either, but I suspect one of you hardcore track junkie instructor types will seek the best cooling possible before too long.

I'm not necessarily saying that these GT350 brakes need more cooling. I'm just considering the idea that additional cooling could help in many regards. Extending brake pad life for one, preventing boiling fluid, etc. Especially for where provisions have already been made just not included.

As a side note. I'm at the Track Attack today and in the intro the instructor mentioned that they did try many combinations of pads compounds and brake fluid to get the brakes to survive. I'm going to try and see tomorrow if they put on the deflectors.
