Does anyone have experience with this that is willing to provide some insight? How much of a difference does it make? Is it worth it for a visit to the track? I do realize I will need to tune for it to take advantage of the extra octane it provides, but I would like opinions. Thanks!

I use Octanium as recommended by @SC Ruby and @Whipple SC . It definitely works otherwise I wouldn't be able to run a lower pulley with Cali 91 octane.

Yes, it works well. Adam Brunson has lots of experience tuning cars with it.

Best person to answer your question is Adam tune + . Hopefully he'll comment

Basically the exact same thing as torco. Works great, almost any tuner have a good amount of experience with these kinds of fuel additives

It will leave a nice orange coating on your plugs. Not an issue if the plugs aren't part of the anti-knock strategy. A lot of guys were using Torco on their E92 M3s, it became an issue as the spark plugs with their ion sensing plugs are vital for the anti knock strategy.

That being said I know a C5 Vette that makes 650rwhp using it on piss water Cali 91.

I think it's the MMT that leaves the orange residue on the plugs. I do not think that our plugs, stock or aftermarket are utilized for any anti-knock algorithms by the PCM. I believe that is solely a function of the knock sensors. We have two on the EBM. Honestly, I'm curious to try this stuff out. It could potentially be a good track option instead of running ethanol blends to better keep fueling headroom I check and to keep the HPFP pressures from dropping. Perhaps Adam @Tune+ can chime in and elaborate further on this topic.

Torco killed my plugs. Race-Gas is much better IMO. As for performance I also got more from Race-Gas. I run one can per fill-up giving me close to 96 octane. Base oct. is 92 for me.

Are you specifically tuned for the RGA or are you on a 93 tune and just mix in the RGA and go?

I've used it for a long time now, and still use it today on customers cars. I do 1 can per 1/2 tank of gas. This is what I used on MAP's car when it made 640whp actually.

As mentioned it will cover your plugs in the Orange death but it isn't going to hurt the effectiveness of the plug unless you continually use it for thousands of miles. Good for the track and race days, but not daily.

Plus, it's expensive.

Tune+ That concentration is 101 Octane? How would you compare a tune for RGA versus a typical E30 blend tune? I'm assuming you can get a little more aggressive with the timing? How much of a difference in power?

The power is going to be roughly the same, a small edge to RGA. The biggest thing is less stress on the factory fuel system.

Good to know as I would think for most people it would be easier to find 91 / 93 than E85 or mix E30? Here in Ohio E85 is nonexistent, but 93 is plentiful. I'm curious to try out the Xv1 with 93 and RGA additive.

TheLion I would double check with LMS about the use of RGA with their Xv1 tune file. My understanding is that Xv1 is for use with MS109 which is an oxygenated fuel. To my knowledge RGA is not oxygenated and may not have the same fueling requirements as MS109, even though it's likely to meet the minimum octane requirement.

There are two variants of the Xv1. One is labeled Xv1_93 and the other is Xv1_MS109 if memory serves correctly. The _93 variation can be used with 93 pump gas, but is meant for track use only (not fully loaded car, more ideal climate etc.). The _MS109 variant is only available upon special request due to it being a race gas only tune.

The _93 variant can be used with straight 93 pump gas but can self adjust for RG additive to get a bit more power. The MS109 variant is for actual MS109 race fuel only, not 93 pump gas mixed with RG additive, which as you mentioned is not the same.

I have the _93 variant, which is the standard released variant (I believe that's what they ran the 11.8 on that stock 3.31 Auto EB way back), but I could be wrong. I'm not going to request or try the _MS109 variant any time in the near future, I'm not that adventurous, at least not yet...

Thanks for the heads up though, I'm sure LMS will chime in if I'm incorrect on the variants and their use.
