Yep
from the US there are 3 different levels of sending am item if its travelling by the USPS. Top level will avoid any extra tax, 3 items I brought off a company in the US used this and big heavy items like a trunk mat and 5 steel dress up caps. no charge
Another company it was picked up my parcel force and I got hit for £20 odd for 5 items in one package
then the 3rd and the cheapest was picked up Royal Mail, who don't even bother sending out a card telling you they have your item. Then 20 days later it gets sent back to the US, which happened to me

I have been looking how to "de silver" the car. I have got the front pony sorted side decals and exhaust black tips but the rear GT badge looks naff. I was thinking of swapping the decklid but in order to save the hassle was considering plastic dipping then plasti glossing the existing GT round badge. Not sure anyone has done that but if done well it could look good? Thanks for showing the options though, it all helps

Enoch did one of his videos on plastic-dipping the bits on his rear end!

Yes I saw that, so that post and this one helps work out the best option.

Hi Goosey,

I've completely "de-silvered" my Magnetic GT too! I bought black decals (5.0 decals x 2, plus the front grille running pony) & then had them dipped in carbon fibre. I've also got a black US-spec GT deck lid. I also bought black wheel nuts (transforms the look of the wheels). I'm really happy with the look of that lot, will post up some pics in due course, or you can look on FB (I'm Simon Everidge, active on all S550 related forums).

I'm just waiting to replace the standard splitter/diffuser/skirts with carbon-fibre dipped versions, so once they're on the car I'll post up some more pics.

Intrigued to know what you did to your exhaust tips? Did you replace them with black versions? If so which ones? Or did you do something to blacken the stock versions?

Snorty

I've seen a faux petrol cap sprayed in black plastidip, & it looks great from a few feet away, but not quite so clean if you look up close.

I have imported a Solo exhaust that comes with the black tips, so that solved that problem. Any pics would be great ! I may try the spraying route then if it looks less than A 1. - I will go down another route.

Snorty you can get black tips custom made from most exhaust places that'll clip over your current tips. Equally they can 'coat them' I wouldn't really trust coating the exhaust in paint, or plastidip as it gets rather hot and will just melt it - most heat resistant paints would even struggle (Includes the likes of E-tech, Foliatec, VHT etc).
Plenty of exhausts that come "stock" with black tips - MAgnaflow black, solo, Roush at one point had one too.
Goosey Plastidip will work, otherwise take them off, prime them, and spray them with black (matte, gloss, satin, whatever) vehicle paint, then with a gloss spray or a matte spray depending on the overall desired finish, should do the trick. Plastidip holds its own advantage as it's removable and can be peeled off whenever required - it looks good and generally holds it's own durability wise. But if done incorrectly or peeled badly can look like sh1t. AS with all painting, it's down to the prep and care taken.

If you look on Facebook for 'Detail My Car' in Newbury, they've posted up a load of photos last Friday which show the car & all the bits I've done (external & internal).

Hi Manders,

I didn't particularly like the red dot, & at the moment I'm really happy with the all over CF effect, but I might do the dot in a solid colour at some point as a contrast (black?).

I think the CF effect looks particularly good against a Magnetic background, it really brings out the weave in the CF.

The dashboard dipping was £250 (for 4 parts as per photos), & the decals were £20 each.

The splitter/diffuser/side skirts are costing me £400 all in, & will be fitted by my friendly local Ford dealer (Think Guildford) next week, will post up pics once done.

That will then complete my external mods, at least those I'm currently planning !!
