If I don't have a cooler on the trans by the time I'm able to go to the Ring next summer, then I'm im coming up with a plan to minimize the heat issue as much as possible.

The Ring is about 1.5 hours from my Germany home, so I will drive there then go eat so the car can cool down.

We guesstimate that each run is about 10 mins, so I know at least one other person who is supposed to have a 2017. So if we alternate runs (i.e. I go then he goes) then maybe it can cool down some.

The alternating will also help in getting bigger discounts by charging the track card with more entries.

This is a very detailed post and I thank you for that.

I'm not sure about the diff temps. I registered 315 on the cluster for diff at my last track event, a little bit in the red but it didn't limp. I pulled off as I didn't want to test if that were a thing. I just checked for DTCs but didn't have any temperature-related. :shrug:

That is why my friend Mark thinks the quality control on the programming is probably the culprit. He thinks the sensors are off or not calibrated correctly. He says all the PCM's are programmed at once then shipped to Ford. Same with sensors. Those are shipped to Ford and are put into car with no calibration or checking. You get what you get. Since Mark works for Roush they actually check these parameters on the RS3 and anything with major mods for track. They recalibrate the PCM to the sensors if need be. Everything then works as it should. On my car everything is working good so we are not going to recalibrate anything whether it is right or wrong. Like the saying if it is not broke, don't fix it. The program he is using is some $25k+ program that actually can write code to all the Ford's and get into all the functions. I asked what it was so and he said it is true Ford proprietary software. It had bar graphs, parameter settings, reads up to the last 200 hours of info, etc. It seemed quite useful and he also said this software should be mandatory at Ford dealers for diagnostics but is not since most servicing dealerships don't have the expertise to use it and the cost usually is the main issue. He did say Ford uses it in all their performance areas for testing, etc.

Again I think it comes to show that Ford may have built such a complicated car that no one understands it or can repair or service it to a satisfactory level.

Also I will keep my car but Ford has lost my future business for now? because of all the so called finger pointing, delays and no call backs to try and get a resolution. New 17' Viper TA GTC ordered and working on a deal right now for a Panamera GTS for my business car. Ford lost a GT and a new Continental right now because of customer support and how things were handled. And come 1st quarter of next year i'll need another SUV and a diesel truck.

Also I wish there is a way to put a voice message sound bite on here for people to hear the message from a Ford rep to me about how Ford is wiping their hands from my gt350 issues and it is now solely in the dealership's hands.

Could you post the voicemail somewhere else and then link to it here? There's no excuse for poor customer service or jerking people around on warranty issues except for increasing the bottom line. Too bad the bottom line seems blatantly evident...guess $10.2 billion pretax in one year isn't enough.

We have a newscaster Pam Zeckman who covers issues with bad products, quality issues, customer support, etc. And puts your story on the news in front of millions of viewers trying to get some action or resolution. Thought that would be interesting?

Again just trying to get what was promised and paid for. A good solid running and looking vehicle. Don't want anything for free.

I know your area well. I literally just walked in from visiting some friends near St. Wendel. You're lucky to be so close. Used the BMW instead of the GT350. Forgot how nicely that thing cruises at 180-200kph...+passenger + dog + AC...no issues.

I don't want to tell you something you already know or have experienced, but I would add a couple minutes to that 10 minute estimate. The car can handle it without a problem, but unless you are used to both the car and the track, 10 minutes in any vehicle is an aggressive time for a non-pro/non-instructor. Of course, Sabine came very close to breaking 10 minutes in a panel van, but that's Sabine. I would also highly recommend an instructor on the first run. Assuming you haven't already run the track (don't know), an instructor makes a ton of difference and is worth every cent. Given your line of work, I certainly cannot match your appreciation for safety. Lastly, I would not recommend paying any attention to time during the run. If you have a device to record the time, look at it well after (not even in between runs). Again, you may know all this, or have a different opinion--just my 2 cents.

Specific to the car, I am planning to go up in a couple of weeks with a group of folks, but am debating on whether I'll take the car on the track. Per previous posts, I stopped by on my way back from the port, before the car was broken in, and now I would really like to run it for a single lap. However, I am very concerned about hitting limp mode while on that track--dangerous! I've got a couple of weeks to decide, but the fact that I have second thoughts about a single lap around a 13 mile track that is really simply a windy road through forested hills speaks to the problem we are facing with this car. Let's hope Ford steps up to the plate...

Thanks for the information. I really don't plan on pushing it too hard at first. I mainly don't want to put the car into a wall.

Called FP this morning around 8:30. They said the fix was "6-8 weeks away from being completed".

They also said there would be more than one option. One would include a new $4800.00 trans plus cooler and lines. The other solution was to put in a external pump. A name was given of a pump manufacture with "all metal internals" but I don't recall the brand.

So nothing new...

Called fp at 12 central time. Got the same response. I spoke to Mike. He informed me that Ford is a month away from releasing the kits (trans only). He also gave me a part number for the trans cooler, when it becomes available "M-9095-M8S". Plus u would have to source external pump yourself as we discussed. The trans swap obviously is another option.

I don't understand what is taking so long.

The package with the Trans swap. All the parts are on the shelf. They have the part numbers and costs and MSRP. Put a package together and list it. Hell the package doesn't even need to be assembled until someone orders it.

The "external pump", since they aren't offering the pump with it; it's really the same as above. A package that has all the ford parts from the other package minus the transmission.

What testing is needed. None because one package is already on a car they sell and the other package isn't complete so there should be no testing.

Didn't have a chance to call today, but will do so tomorrow. Thoroughly disgusted by the non-solution. Track aside, not sure of the purpose of a sports car that cannot be driven at "sustained high speeds." Yeah, venting...
