Hi all,
I searched for info here and all around the web for this, but am not finding much. What's happening is this: what my '16 GT Convertible thinks the Shaker audio should sound like with the top ~down~ absolutely blows compared to what it thinks it should sound like with the top ~up~.
Having said that, yes I am very aware that there is normally a huge difference in the way the sound system sounds between top up and down. What I am asking for help with is the optimization that the car applies when you change back and forth. The Shaker system actually sounds pretty amazing with the top up and windows open. However, when I drop the top, the whole EQ changes and goes so hissy and crashing I can hardly stand to listen to it. I would think it should be attempting to boost mids and lows with the top down, but it's like it's doing the reverse.
The only thing the manual says is this:
Note: When you latch or unlatch the
convertible top, the audio system mutes
briefly. This allows the vehicle to optimize
the cabin’s sound quality depending on the
position of the convertible top.
Can this be disabled in any way, or are we stuck with it? TIA
