Now I'd like to know if the power pack 1/2 have a raised redline lol. I'll see about asking while I'm at work tomorrow. Anyone with the PP1 feel free to chime in if you've tried it.

I am opting for the stage III hardware, but a stage II tune, so I can get max horsepower and max low torque...and be CARB legal.

If only....

More information I inquired to Ford Performance about regarding warranty...hopefully it makes a bit more sense. Sounds like unless the parts installed caused an issue, your 5/60 warranty remains intact for original parts (not the added performance pack parts).

Mike says:
Hello Mitch. My name is Mike how can I help you?
Mitch says:
Hello Mike, I have a question regarding warranty on the new Performance Packs for the 2015 to 2017 Mustang GT
Mitch says:
When bought, and installed by a Ford dealer, does this reduce your powertrain warranty to 3yr/36K, or do you keep the 5yr/60K, and the 3/36 only applies to the Ford Performance parts?
Mitch says:
Like if there was an internal engine failure, would it be covered by the powertrain warranty, and still with 5yr/60K coverage?
Mike says:
It depends on where the failure is attributed to, if it is due to the calibration, the warranty is 3/36k
Mike says:
A dealer would have to prove that the calibration caused damage in order to deny your base, 5/60k warranty, after the 3/36k period
Mitch says:
So if it was attributed to something like running lean or something of that nature, which could be attributed to the new parameters of the tune, it could only be covered for 3yr/36K.
Mike says:
Yes
Mitch says:
Ok, and the 3yr/36K is from the date of the original vehicle purchase, or from installation? So if the car was exactly 2 years old, I had an issue after 1 more year (after 3/36K), it could be denied? Or does the 3yr/36K start from the performance pack installation date?
Mike says:
I might add that these are also calibrations that are engineered by Ford, they know what they're doing. It will not run lean, and goes through the same durability testing that base cars do.
Mike says:
The warranty on any part would be from the original start date, not from the time the parts were installed
Mitch says:
Ok, I think that clears it up, thanks Mike
Really a reply to the group of comments on this, but tunes are pretty darn easily justifiable excuse to void a powertrain warranty.

Pushing the car beyond what it came from the factory warrantied as is a pretty tough fight, unless you want to spend more than the cost of the repair fighting it in court. Remember, Ford Performance parts are still considered aftermarket in terms of the original car warranty.

It's still a pay to play scenario, just a hair less risk than an aftermarket tune.

For those who are really interested in these kits, I am currently in talks about a possible group buy. Waiting for more info as far as pricing and how many buyers are needed. I will keep you updated.
I'm interested in the PP1 pack!

Equally, if something a ford dealer did to the car damages the car, surely that's justification for a claim against the dealer. Ford can't really win, if the tune is faulty then they are admitting liability for creating a damaging product, if the tune isn't faulty then it shouldn't have caused the damage.

I have PP1 tune but there is no way for me to tell you what my redline is other than redlining the car. Nothing in procal software that I see
Sorry, need to call Ford

So why is it people are so averse to redlining their cars - I guess these aren't the same people who take their cars to the strip a couple of times per year? Why get tuned to begin with if not to experience the additional headroom in the tune?

As I recall, Ford tested the Coyote by running it at redline for 10 days straight ... c'mon people the occasional redline is not a problem.

And everyone is so paranoid about the tune blowing the engine ... all the safety measures are still in place. GM & Ford always leave power on the table for the tuners ... we buy their Camaros & Mustangs to hop them up a bit ... many of us anyway.

They know that and they sell plenty of parts to us to take some of that power off the table.

Knowing there's room to up the power is a selling feature for me actually when considering a performance car. My 2 cents.

I don't see the need of redlining the car, the peak horsepower and Torque is hit before redline. I got the tune for the added Torque down low, more aggressive drivability, and a little extra HP without sacrificing warranty. To me Redlining the car a lot is not good for it just like beating on it when breaking a new car in isn't good for it IMO and how I was raised so that's my 2 cents.

Mine gets redlined on the street almost everyday I drive it. Just the occasional onramp rip

I am not suggesting to anyone that they redline their car for 10 days -- but some information as to getting past 7k would be much appreciated -- I *think* I'd be happy with a 7300-7400 cutoff that would allow me stay in the power band past 7k. If any part of the Yahoo article is to be believed, the engine is still pulling hard all the way to 7500 with pack 3. I know stock it pulls all the way through cutoff at 6800 - hard enough that I go "really?" - because it's so clear that there's more power past that -- there's zero indication that power is dropping off up there.

Power pack 3 is a good deal just for the parts. You can get it for $1999.99 in some places which really is just the price of the 350 intake, throttle body, and CAI.
