Is that the 5 or 7 yr application ?Here are some pictures of when it was done
EF300.. If you are asking me, my car is not coated yet! I will do it in a couple of weeks with CQuartz UKIs that the 5 or 7 yr application ?
Yes it does. Black cars are the worst for showing that!! lol We used 2500 then 3000 then polished. I will still hit a few areas we did not touch.yours has orange peel if you look close enough.. all cars will have orange peel unless you get extremely aggressive with the paint correction. i bout mine used with 1400 miles and the previous owner left it under a tree for a year so all i wanted done was scratches, bird dropping etching, as well as water spot etching removed. As far as orange peel it looks 90% better then when i picked up the car. Also i can take pictures in the correct lighting to not show orange peel, but my intent was to get rid of the other stuff and not get so aggressive on the correction
interesting, so he did your wheels as well? how are they done ? I'd love to do mine as well.my detailer did just like most do foamed the car rinsed, used carper iron x for wheels and tires, then two bucket method to wash the car, clayed, then taped off the worst section to test to see what pad as well as what product to use. He used menzerna the same you did, but i know he used car pro essence after as a final polisher then did the prep to apply the 7 year crystal serum. As far as shine and actual paint imperfects i.e. scratches, etching there was none when he was done, but orange peel was still there but 90% better then any new mustang i have on my lot.
looked at your build thread i see you actually wet sanded the car which is ballsy but came out great. Mine was done all with a da and different pads, but produced results i am extremely happy with :cheers:interesting, so he did your wheels as well? how are they done ? I'd love to do mine as well.
yes they don't recommend it, but my detailer talked to carpro and gtechniq and said it would affect anything. We wiped it clear of any oils before applying cs. Before he did it on my car he had tried multiple test panels on his own car. Its like reset of carpro they say to use it with carpro products, but tons of people use it with other ceramic coatings. These threads... S2550's generally have between 3.0-4.0 mil of paint. Wetsand that at your own risk. Just correct the car and coat it, it'll look great, I promise.
Oh, and one last note, using Carpro Essence before Crystal Serum is generally a bad idea. Essence is designed to go on before cQuartz coatings. I don't believe gtechniq would recommend an si02 polish to be used before application of CS.
So detail what you refer to as " just correct the car" what is your process? These threads... S2550's generally have between 3.0-4.0 mil of paint. Wetsand that at your own risk. Just correct the car and coat it, it'll look great, I promise.

Wash, decon, correct any imperfections, coat. If you want to wetsand that's great. Ive been wetsanding cars for a living for almost 15 years. If an S550 owner asked me to wetsand their car I would advise them against it personally but to each their own. As modern cars have less and less OEM paint on them I find it counterproductive to aggressively remove OP. Of course on a repainted car you have carte blanche, but when you start under 5 mil of paint to achieve any real OP removal you're removing a pretty significant amount of clear. Of course this is a largely personal decision, a garage kept car driven 5k miles a year is in much less danger of cc failure than a daily. So detail what you refer to as " just correct the car" what is your process?
