so my car was nano coated a while back and I left it a bit long between washes. Now I seem to have some stubborn hard water marks showing up. If I use claybar will it remove the nano coating? Would it remove wax?

Thanks

It will remove wax for sure but no clue on the nano stuff.

I had the same issue with mine. I actually had to use a bit of polish to take them off. Better than being etched into the paint.

Nano coating should hold up depending on the product. The point of it is to act as an extra hard second clear coat and provide extra protection from chemicals compared to a standard clearcoat. If you went with a permanent coating, such as opti-coat or ceramic pro 9h it should be okay as those are supposed to only be removed through polishing them down. If you went with a coating that needs to be reapplied at intervals then yes, you may strip it.

All of that being said the safest bet would be to contact the people who installed it, or if it was an at home job the manufacturer.

They ended up selling me some water spot remover that they said shouldn't strip the nano coating. I'll give it a try this weekend and see...

water spots are gone!
looks like its water is still beading as well so my nano coating seems to be intact!
Noticed I have my first paint chip though, just in front of the real wheel :(

Damn. Lot of nanocoating suckers out there who pay an assload for a product you can't even prove is doing anything at all.

I should go buy Opticoat for $75-100 a tube (whatever minimum cost it is for the product) and take my PC XP8242 and charge $500-1000 to polish the car and apply. Sounds like a sweet racket.

Yeah, I inquired about a wax and claybar and the company tried to pitch Nanocoating to me, I think I'll just stick with period waxing and claybarring.
