Is the clutch pedal coming all the way up? Did you take the spring out?
I removed the spring at the 12k mile mark. The pedal will come up fully *most* of the time. Every so often it'll go soft and only come halfway up and then after a couple pumps it goes back to normal and come all the way up. I installed a new OEM slave cylinder at the same time if that matters.

maybe mechanic messed something up while dropping the transmission. Probably need to call them in the morning. Seems like you need MGW shifter at the same time as McLeod

I wish haha. This clutch taxed my mod money for the year. It's acting the same way it did when the OEM clutch broke, except it wouldn't go into any gear at that point.

What could they have damaged when dropping the trans?

don't know, but its a remote shifter so maybe something bent.
I haven't been having the best of luck with this car, so if this ends up being another bad component, will Ford void my warranty for installing an aftermarket clutch?

dealership or independent mechanic install aftermarket clutch? I am assuming the latter. They should be the one to look at your shifter. Actually they should have caught that before giving you the car. Maybe if the shifter or shift linkage got messed up, they will cover half the cost of an MGW as "goodwill". Ask nicely

Independent mechanic, I've been taking my cars to him for the last 5 years and he's done right by me even when one of his techs makes a mistake.

I'll have to drive it to work in the morning, 17 miles both ways so hopefully nothing bad happens. Unfortunately I don't have a second car and don't want to burden my friends or family again. It seems almost as simple as something not being lined up correctly.

could be easily be that. mechanic will need to look at it. You could always drop if off at the mechanic and rent a car. If you are not confident commuting in your car.

Well, I drove it to work this morning and noticed some throttle surging at 2,500rpm in 5th and 6th gear (i.e. - foot down and the car would accelerate, buck a little bit around 2,500rpm and then keep accelerating). I haven't gone above 3,000rpm since the new parts were installed. I hope this isn't a sign of even more trouble.

I'll be calling the mechanic shortly and seeing what he has to say about it. What are the chances that my synchros have gone bad?

*Edit: Just spoke to the owner and he said it to bring it back in as soon as I can. Looks like she'll be getting dropped off again tonight after work. :/

Try the Steeda spring then. I removed the spring and it was fine except for ONE time when the clutch pedal did not come all the way. If you had the pump it too, sounds like air possibly in the line.

I'm starting to think the issues I'm having are due to air in the clutch line and a misaligned shifter or linkage. Simple mistakes that my mechanic will hopefully be able to address. I haven't enjoyed my car in close to two months now.

I purchased the Steeda clutch spring a while ago but broke the bracket it goes on when I removed the OEM spring. :headbonk:

how much is a new bracket ? I would want the pedal to return properly every time.

Did you figure out this issue? My car just randomly started not going into 1st or 2nd intermittently, so I caught this on your thread and was curious!
