Well there is a reason why they sell discount auto insurance.

Apparently Geico is an "aftermarket parts" insurance....the more you know:doh:

I believe all replacements have been OEM outside of the radiator and condenser. Geico is denying those parts do to availability of aftermarket parts :frusty:
Well that kind of sucks considering I just switched to Geico last week (after my claim with Progressive).

I was rear ended by an uninsured driver while I still had paper plates on my 2016 Mustang GT. The damage was around $8K. My insurance is Geico and they took care of me and I never had to ask for OEM parts and that is all I got. They gave us great rates, too. I could not be happier and they are easy to deal with over the years.

All the ins company is obligated to do is fix the car to working condition
It all depends on state laws. I know in SC an ins company cannot use a 2015 used hood on a 2016 car they are paying to fix. It has to be off a 2016 or newer, even though they are the same exact parts.

In texas What was told to me multiple times unfortunately was it only has to be returned to pre wreck condition by the insurance adjuster. Down here as long as the part is the same it doesn't matter the year or oem or aftermarket. I argued the vehicles were new and i wanted new parts and the was the same everytime "it was used when it was wrecked". I argued with the last one because he was a little prick and he asked if i was refusing the repairs and if i was then i could take them to court. Needless to say i cussed him out and signed the repairs because i needed the truck up and going being the only vehicle my wife and i had. There aint no winning with those pond scum suckers

Well, in his defense (I'll burn in hell for this) once you drove the car off the lot it was a used car.

Thats the ins adjusters line when you ask about repairs, but they still want a high rate for a "used car"

OP, sorry to hear about your situation. :( Totally sucks, especially with it being so new. Hopefully they slam the DUI driver to the maximum, I have zero tolerance for that type of thing. If you have been drinking, do not get behind the wheel!

If he was drinking and driving... In my eyes he should have to replace your car. Unfortunately,I do not make the rules.. Your car would of been a total loss if the air bags deployed.. Have it looked over hard.. Put it on a frame machine and have the body shop get measurements.. It is hit hard. It could be on the edge of being a total loss..

Got the police report yesterday. He was slammed with a plethora of charges. It's all kind of shitty honestly. I have a back injury, officially diagnosed and a car with 3000 miles on it pieced together with aftermarket parts most likely(they say they used OEM). The kid probably got bailed out and will pay nothing and go on about his life as usual

Look at your estimate. Does it specify new Ford parts? If it does and the shop uses Toyoyang or used parts, that's insurance fraud. If your estimate specifies new Ford parts and you took the car to a known quality body, you have nothing to worry about.

Adjuster estimate called for aftermarket, shop said they would not use aftermarket. I asked them to send me the order sheet, so we will see soon. I'm going to call the aftermarket radiator vendor and speak with him about what he's providing and compare it to the performance package radiator. If they are equal then I'm fine with it I guess.

I see this is a Geico claim. Good luck but it does sound like you're at a good shop if they will use Ford parts instead. The body shops hate these shit insurance companies like Geico, Progressive, Esurance, etc because of BS like this....spec'ing aftermarket parts on a year old car.
