First off glad you are ok.

Second go to the doctor and get checked out.

Third, that car is probably totaled, there could be broken engine mounts, broken suspension etc.

Your insurance company should cut you a check for a replacement car then it's up to you on how you want to spend that check.

Terry

Glad you're OK op!

I'd be surprised if it's totaled unless the roof and/or rear sail panels are buckled from energy ride down. We need better pictures.

As stated, the insurance company is going to need 75% in damage based on current market value of the vehicle, which usually means looking for prices of similar cars using a 500 mile Autotrader search.

Cars will always come and go. Sometimes it's our choice, sometimes not. It hurts to have one taken away, but you now have a totally different outlook on the value of your own life, I'm sure. Thank God you're ok and I hope they do total your car. Looks pretty bad, chances are probably good.

As for the other guy...

Some people's kids...smh

Glad you are OK JAE. Hard to say if the car will be totaled. It's always an uninsured idiot that ruins your day. I hope everything works out for you. Please keep us in the loop.

Clearly if the damages are more than the value of the car it's going to be totaled. Also i'm sure they run a risk analysis on a car and even if it can be repaired, is it worth the cost of potential warranty issues with it later that will end up costing them more (most insurances back the repair work with lifetime warranty), or would it just be cheaper for them to total the car, retitle it as salvage and make money back on it that would be greater than paying for the cost to repair it for you. I don't work in insurance and I'm making assumptions of how it would work in my mind but I don't think it's anything anyone on here can help you with. You're just gonna need to be patient.

The biggest worries I have in totaling a car depends on the amount of aftermarket work and mods you installed. If you don't have those things insured, you're going to lose a lot of money and time you put into the car.

Thanks for all the advice! As some others have said cars can be replaced and lives can not. The Mustang did a hell of a job protecting me for sure, good job Ford. I'll be keeping you guys informed on the process, I should hear something from the insurance company tomorrow. I'm really hoping they total it but I don't think this is $30,000 worth of damage. I'm no expert though, did not look under the hood, and struggled to see under the car.

I really hope those kids straighten up, they are going down a pretty bad path. The state police dropped quite bit of citations on him, and they were VERY close to wrapping there vehicle around a pole. I hope they learn from this. I wasn't in the wrong and still took quite a bit away from this accident. Thanks again!

Glad your ok, but you just got creamed by a drunk driver! lawyer up! I don't care if you are a nice guy, DWI's are unacceptable. You could have been driving a hooptie car and died. That Mustang is made to handle that kind of damage, it's one of the safest cars on the road. It did it's job. Once the lawyers are done with him you'll be picking out a paid for GT350.

oh now i'm done being angry, yeah it's totaled. those body panels and paint are not cheap. and there looks to be subframe and suspension busted up to.

Single lane road in each direction. He jumped into the oncoming lane to pass me, and then turned into me. Not sure if he lost control, fell asleep, or misjudged. I thought it was malicious, until the cops told me the guy was so drunk he thought there was a third passenger in the car.

Probably totalled. I just got tapped in the rear and it's $8300. You have pain lingering after the accident you say. Get a lawyer. They will recover from your insurance, that's why you have it.

There could be damage to the unibody underneath, which equals big bucks. If that is the case, it could easily be totaled.
