What the heck, steering feel button, please explain

The 3 buttons on the middle dash below the climate controls in my base ecoboost I always thought were hazards, stability control, traction control or something like that.

6200 miles on the car and finally pressed the last button, up between the two main dials on the dash it read "steering feel" and has three different modes, what the heck is this, I looked in the manual and didn't see it mentioned anywhere, does anyone know what this is about?

It simply adjusts the weight of the steering feel. Comfort being the lightest and sport being the heaviest. Try switching between them and you will feel what I mean.

yup, like sport mode, it changes the way your steering feels/handles. I prefer 'Sport' which is a tighter, more responsive feel.

Having to continually set sport mode or track mode gets annoying as hell.

Sport should be normal, track should be track, and rain should be rain. And whatever I switch it to then it should stay in that setting for all subsequent times I start the car.

I'm probably on my own here, but 90% of the time I use comfort. I blame the fact that I always drove nice sedans before this and effortless steering is what I am accustomed to.

I will say this though; normal in no way at all feels 'normal'. Normal has a dead feeling to it that is hard to explain, so comfort or sometimes sport for me. :shrug:

Same with my wife's Cherokee, put it in Sport, or whatever, or turn off that annoying energy feature that shuts off the engine at stop lights, and, next time you restart, it's all back to factory.

I use comfort too. Normal is a bit heavy for a DD, but I get the sports car theme of it wanting more road feel too.

I just found out my car has a button that starts it. WTF...Those sneaky bastards.

You can blame the government for this one. Jeep gets a credit towards it's average MPG rating by putting that auto-stop feature in. They only get the credit though if it is automatically enabled each time you start the car.

Not sure if it's the government or the corporate lawyers that have the stability control reverting back. But I think it's pretty easy to see how someone who got into an accident would use the "I forgot I changed it to sport" excuse and try to sue.

Sometimes I wonder if mine is broken because I can barely tell a difference between normal and sport. Comfort is relatively different but not that significant. Useless to me.
