Exterior windshield cleaning?

I have horrible water spots on my windshield. What's the best product to remove them? Need to be able to purchase locally.

I recommend distilled vinegar, and immediately wiping with non-ammonia glass cleaner. If you're looking for water repelling properties, get some reload spray.

I've tried vinegar - didn't work
What did work was an Amway Scrub Bud. It's a stainless steel pad used for cleaning pots and pans and glassware but it worked great on my front windshield. Just dipped it in water so I wasn't rubbing dry glass and gently rubbed back and forth. Spots - GONE! Have used this method several times now.

Bonus - They work great in the kitchen too!

You can be pretty aggressive on glass. Water spots are just dried minerals from the water.

Vinegar honestly should it it on glass unless it etched the glass. You could try a razor blade and see if it comes off, or otherwise you will need to polish the glass with a DA.

I would be careful with a steel scrub sponge/steel wool. You CAN leave scratches in your windshield (versus a razor blade wont at an angle).

I have had good luck using the Water Spot Remover for Glass. The vinegar (50/50 with water) works great also.

Gonna have to recommend against the steel scrubbing pad on a coated/tempered glass product like your windshield.

Serious question. If it's designed to clean glass products why can't you use it on your windshield? Scrub buds are not abrasive. The acoustic coating on our windshields is sandwiched between two glass layers so you won't damage that.

It worked fine for me. YMMV.
