Hey guys I'm new to the forums and new to mustangs. I just bought my first car which happens to be a 2016 gt. Now because of where I live the car is not parked at my house. Instead it is parked a couple miles away and is used as a weekend car. In 2 months I've managed to put 2k miles on it.

So the car does get use but it's a lot at once. Mostly the car sits for 3 days at a time and then makes a couple hundred mile trip in a day. Is this okay for car? I hate having it sit for so long. I usually try to at least get it started once every 5 days and get the fluids circulating.

Anyway, just wondering if I should be doing something special to take care of it or if this lifestyle will be okay for it. Thanks for all the help

Mine will be mainly for weekends, but with my old S197 could sit for weeks outdoors, then would do a carshow, with this one. will put her on the remote start every few days for 15mins to get the juices running then maybe a quick run, but the problem is, cant really open her up around town and blow out the cobwebs, until the weekend and I get her on a run. Of course in winter she can sit for a week then just be fired up for 15mins then not driven if weather to bad. Some people say thats bad for the engine, some say its good. :frusty:

You should be fine. Several hundred miles a week will keep everything going more than enough.

Mine sits for a week at a time and sees a few miles to several hundred on occasion.

Ford has a 45 day test for the battery, so it should be able to sit for 45 days with normal loads and still start. You have nothing to worry about.I would use pure synthetic like Mobil 1 or Red Line (I use Red Line) because it will keep oil on the cylinders better that conventional or synthetic blends.

Sitting 3 days is not a lot at all. Here in the mid west, mine sits three weeks sometimes a month in the winter when everything is frozen. Never had any issues.

Same. My car is 5 months and just rolled over 3100 miles. It gets abused on the weekends and occasionally if I drive it to work. But it typically sits 4 to 5 days. No problems.

Agreed 3 days isn't too long, but a battery tender with auto shutoff wouldn't hurt... I'd avoid fueling (not that the tank is THAT big) all they way. keep the gas fresh as possible.

Id also make sure your rodent free storage... so traps, sprays etc around also cant hurt...

Also make sure it stays clean... paint contaminants shouldn't sit around...
