2017 Roush Supercharger Tune Not Available

I took notice in the forums that several people have ordered 2017 GTs with dealer installed Roush superchargers.

I also ordered a 2017 and it arrived to the dealer on 6/28. They installed the phase 2 727hp kit on my car as part of the vehicle financing. I got a call 7/1 from the dealer telling me the car was done, but the 2017 tune from Roush isn't available yet. Apparently Ford changes the encryption codes every model year for the ECUs and hasn't released those codes to Roush yet. So basically the car is a huge paper weight as it can't be started without the tune.

I called Roush and was advised they did not have an ETA of when the tune will become available. I reached out to a few other members on the forum to see if they heard otherwise. DisneyFun1 reported a similar issue last year. He had ordered a 2016 with Roush supercharger when the kits were already out for the 2015 models. He said he had to wait nearly 6 months after getting his 2016 for Ford to release the new encryption codes so that Roush could make the tune work from 2015 models to the 2016 models.

I have calls into a few dealerships that offer these dealer installed 727 Roush charged 2017 Mustang GTs , such as Alabama Ford and Lebanon Ford, but am awaiting an answer. I also called Ford corporate and have a case number assigned to me.

Just thought I would reach out to everyone and give them a heads up. Maybe if enough of us contact Ford, we can get the ball rolling sooner

The issue is with the Phase 2 tune. Roush isn't happy with the current results they are seeing on average. They are working on it now and it should be ready pretty soon. I say just be patient, as the results will surely be a good improvement over current! Congrats on new ride.

From my conversation with Roush technical support, they made it sound like the 2017 ECUs were untunable as Ford has them encrypted. I may have misunderstood, but that brings up another question. Has anyone seen any tuners advertising for servicing 2017 models.

Interested in this as well... I ordered a 17 roushcharged car from Lebanon and have a build date of July 18th...I contacted my sales Rep today via text and was told they have not heard anything about this but they had not supercharged any of the 17 model cars as of yet... Also what issues are you guys referring to with the Phase 2 tune? I cant seem to be able to find any videos or personal info anywhere on the Phase 2 cars that are being sold... And according to Lebanon they are being sold left and right... I ordered a Phase 2 727 hp car and would definitely be interested in some feedback from someone would had one...

I scoured the internet and couldn't find a single record of any 2017 with any sort of forced induction yet. The dealer took the ECU out of my car, overnighted it to Roush, and when Roush tried to flash it, they called the dealer back and said they couldn't flash 2017 ECUS yet as Ford hasn't released the new encryption codes.

There's a thread in this section talking about how the Roush tunes suck which is very interesting to me because Lebanon Ford is telling me they are selling and doing these installs like mad... But I have yet to find someone who has bought one... Just us who have ordered our 17's.. I am in NC and will be flying to Ohio so this tune thing is a big deal to me as well...

Roush & Ford are like PB&J; that encryption code will show up any time. I wouldn't worry too much about it, might just some time... enough time for you to cancel your order and get a Kenne Bell or Whipple and a stock car for the same dough!

I'm a proud owner! I have a 16 GT with PP and the Roush Phase 2. To this point, I have been very happy with my car. Roush does tune them very conservatively, which makes complete sense. They are offering a warranty and don't want problems all over the place. I spoke with Charlie Watson (best salesman I have ever dealt with) at Lebanon last week. He said Roush is stopping the production of the Phase 2's for just a bit while they work on the tune. There are a couple issues they are working through and also want to get 10-15 more horses out of the Phase 2. They expect the tune to be ready pretty soon! It's gonna be worth the wait. If you don't want to go Lund tune or any other, this should make it a good deal to keep parts warranty through Roush.

Exactly!

I know there is a much more power to be made with Whipple and KB, but I'm not chasing down any records. I'm looking for a daily driver that I can throw a set of tires on at the occasional track visit and run in the 10s.

Having the parts warranty through Roush and being able to finance it along with the vehicle purchase were the key factors of why I chose Roush.

Thank you for the insight on the Phase 2 tune. Come to think of it, when I spoke with Roush on Friday, they asked if I had phase 1 or 2, and when I said 2, they were like "oh phase 2, hold on, let me get you over to someone else". Makes sense, because on the website, it says phase 2 are currently out of stock, but phase 1 are available, all be it for 2015 and 2016s.

I went with the roush for the warranty also i don't want to worry about motor and trans problem or having to tune i have friends who tune there cars and i have seen tunes take out a motor

This is a recent email from Roush about their tune......Good afternoon,

I apologize for any delay in response. Based on the concerns you’re having Roush is aware of a concern with the phase 2 calibration and has held off on selling these units until we can update the calibration to provide the proper peddle response and clear out the drivability concerns as well as the code that presents itself. At this time I don’t have an ETA as to when the updated cal will be finalized but we will be contacting owners of phase 2 units once the update is made available.
