I would like to see the results of a dyno comparison. My decision to lose the pmas intake was from a drivability stand point.

Would you elaborate a bit more about how PMAS affected driveability. I haven't installed my PMAS intake yet as I'm waiting for my base dyno day next month. I understand that there was something that bothered you since it made you get rid of it and I'm curious to know what was that. I'd appreciate if you'd share your experience running PMAS Intake as I'm sure other members would like to hear from you. Thx in advance

I think this sounds like a great idea personally.
Thanks man! Anyone who knows anything about marketing, advertising, and social media would jump on this. I think live streaming could possibly be the new trend especially for small shops. I think if they did this and announced a date and time beforehand, they'd get a swarm of viewers. Look at the interest and attention this thread itself now has. Even if the CAI has no or little gains they'll still get new customers. And it is no sweat off the shop's back. But perhaps there are licensing things that go along with it. Like if a company does this and uses a specific product, there would probably be some legal things on what they can say, do, or how they represent the product.

For anyone wanting the pmas intake I would recommend the tune required one that uses your OEM maf. That's where I messed up, I had the no tune required which uses an aftermarket card style maf and a transfer box to convert the maf signal in a usable signal for the PCM. Initially when I received my pmas I have the V1 transfer box which stopped working almost immediately. So back to the stock intake I went. Called pmas and promptly received the v2 transfer box with an assurance that this one was revised and would not fail. About a month after installing the v2 box in went out to start my car one morning and yet again the box had failed making my car undriveable. So back to the stock intake I went. At that point I was done with the pmas intake so I bought a roush and no more issues. Not only was the pmas unreliable the drivability was not good. The car surged badly at lows speeds, the car had to be up to temp before I could drive it. WOT shifts were very harsh, the car would jerk horibly when I released the clutch after changing gears. I thought that my tune and the intake were clashing and causing the issues so I returned my car to stock and still had the same issues. I have had none of those issues with the stock intake or the roush I have now.

I had the same issues with the first version kit and the newest design is different, using your OEM maf for tune only kits. I have no driveability issues with the newest version that is now being sold.

Yeah I second that! I feel like pmas knew this initial version had issues and still released it. 400 bucks for a substandard product is not how I want to spend my money.

V1 and V2 used the box and their MAF sensor, V2 added a separate IAT sensor placed right above the radiator :headbonk: so it gave very inaccurate intake temps. V3 is a tube with a factory MAF (calibrated or uncalibrated) and a redesigned elbow. V3 is the current one now being sold.

My V1 kit was ok other than the stepping in the IATs.

The V2 kit, even though the electronics package was very nicely built, was rough. Out of the box the temp sensor didn't work because the converter box was bad. Got the converter replaced and it was ok for a long time, until it wasn't.

The source of all the issues with the V1 and V2 kits was really the converter box, which is gone in V3. I had hoped to play with the V3 kit before I went on vacation but it never showed up. PMAS has probably been busy getting the shipping issues sorted out to paying customers, I'm in no rush.

Hopefully there will be some nice dynos by the time I'm back.

His issues are moot because the intake being sold now is different.

"No tune" is sent with their MAF already calibrated for the intake. "Tune required" reuses your stock MAF. In both cases, it is a factory card style MAF.

I have had no issues with drivability.

I have the latest version of it. I've driven it about six times in a 9 hour trip and have had no issues at all. I'm guessing it was the way the maf was on the older versions that caused the issues.
