I ordered the "no tune" version. Even though I am tuned. Paid the extra $100 just to test it.

And the newest versions of the intake, regardless of the tune or no tune, use a factory MAF. "No tune" includes a factory MAF with the correct data already input. "Tune" reuses your stock MAF and includes data to adjust the transfer function.

Neither version use the proprietary MAF initially offered. That was the largest advantage and selling point for me. Wish now I would have read their original thread entirely before ordering.

Just curious. Why do you wish you had read the entire thread? Was there something you missed or did you order the wrong thing or something?

Had I read the entire thread (their original release thread) I would have known that the design changed (which they don't mention in any of their sales ads) to using the stock MAF from using their very nice MAF housing with proprietary MAF.

Yes, both in the picture are PMAS units.

We swapped to the other design because it ended up flowing slightly more and the lab style sensor was WAY overkill for automotive applications. There was also no way to do the no tune required kit without electronic maf controls prone to failure. We made the change for flow, repeatability and reliability.

Also, the sensor that came with your housing is not a factory sensor. You car will not run with the stock sensor installed in that tube. Both designs used the same calibrated sensor element.

I apologize we haven't updated the pics on the site but we have been EXTREMELY busy.

it has an engine!
Who cares about how it looks? Does that win races? Who cares of its made with pvc pipes. If it kicks the other systems ass that wins races last time i checked.

Sure the other design looks neater but if the new one is better thats what matters. If looks matter over performance to someone there is other brands to buy.

My German side came out and I over-engineered the first version a bit .. I've been know to do that here and there lol :headbonk:

It was fantastic looking. But the new one is more reliable and performs better and at a great price point. Id say you did a great job on both. Youve helped out the community learn how just restrictive the piece coming from the grill really is as well

Your complaint, I believe, is the orientation of the MAS on the intake tube being now vertical vs horizontal to the intake tube. This is very interesting since I asked Bryan at UPR to confirm the no tune MAS mounting orientation. He told me it was horizontal as advertised. I personally wanted the OEM style mounting location. I ended up buying the GMS/PMAS unit from Summit for $20.00 over UPR's forum price just because of the MAS mounting location. Of course, I got next day delivery from Summit which is standard from them at my location here in Phoenix. I do believe you got PMAS's MAS like I did. By the way the unit looks better in person then the pictures indicate.

So in the pic, which one is the new one? The larger one or the smaller one?

I can vouch for this part. Just FYI you do not really want your MAF to fail on you 10 hours from home.

I'm back to factory since the failure. But when I purchase another intake it will be a PMAS again after seeing the redesign.

I still feel horrible about that man :frusty: when you come back I will give you a smoking deal. When I say smoking I mean free for your trouble.

I understand. I'm still eager to test it. I hope it lives up to the claims.

I didn't say anything about how to looks. Form over function for me.

They are both the same size. One is further away because of no filter.
