So im going to ask some questions to which i think the answers would be beneficial to all. Hopefully i dont get deleted since the isnt an advertisement.

1. What is a safe way for both parties to send and reciece payment?

2. What is the best way to cover shipping cost?

Thanks

Paypal works pretty well, and it's easy to set up. As for buying from guys here. Be wary of the sellers with less than several hundred posts.

Also on this forum look at the member info. Mine for instance. I sold one item, it went well and the buyer gave me a positive review. Hence I have an iTrader score of 100%.

On Paypal, don't ever "send as a gift"

So you can pay a person with paypal? I did not know that.

Im guessing the seller always gets payment up front but i could see that being an issue for the buyer. Thoughts?

Sellers with established accounts get the funds immediately.

When paying an individual for merchandise the buyer can make a notation on what they are buying. If you have a problem with your purchase you can file a dispute with a chance of getting your money back through PayPal after an investigation. The seller has to pay fees of 2.9% (iirc). The purchaser has "buyer protection".

PayPal is like an "escrow" service that protects both buyer and seller, at a transactional cost of 3%. For items I buy that are over $100 I ask for the seller to send me a PayPal invoice.

Road Dog how do I request a buyer to improve my iTrader score?

Several Hundred posts ? I am on here often and am not even close to that. lol I have already bought and sold several items on here without any issues at all so far. I would not but from anyone that looks like they just joined to sell something and I would also see if they have any feedback from previous transactions.

But you are at several hundred posts 463 as of me writing this.
That being said I would go over your historical posts and your previous transactions which seem to have gone well so I would buy from you.

Yes I am now but I am on here everyday lately. But when I started buying and selling things I was under 100 for sure. I do agree with you on looking into the individual to see previous posts. If all he has done is logged on to sell parts I would be wary for sure. I have had great communication with the several members I have bought from on here so I have nothing bad to say at this point.

Send as gift is fine as long as the seller is well established in the forum in my opinion. I'd be wary of buying from someone with no reputation to lose. Ppl tend to lowball a lot on here even when the prices are good so it sucks when you also get hit with PayPal fees after striking a deal

Why would you ever send as a gift? That's literally just giving the money away and if the product comes all fucked up or doesn't come at all, you're SOL and can't do anything about it...

Then don't accept their offer. That simple.

I'll admittedly outright refuse a sale if I'm already giving someone a helluva deal, and then at the end they try haggling me for an extra $5. It's not the most logical thing to do sometimes.

Usually when I sell something online, I already figure out what shipping costs will be, and what paypal's cut will be. I'll never ask anyone to cover the fees or send as a gift, and I'll usually cover the cost of shipping in the price. My only exception to that, is if it's an item that'll be expensive to ship ($25+), I'll usually include exact shipping cost along side the asking price for transparency.

But as a buyer, don't ever send as a gift if you're exchanging money for goods. If for some reason the transaction goes bad, paypal will have no sympathy for you if you send as gift. Just don't do it.

Paypal sending as a gift is basically giving a person money. Paypal will not protect you in that case.

If you sell something, then you can either eat the charges yourself or request they buyer pay the paypal fees. In which case you can just go to an online Paypal fees calculator to find out how much they will have to send you to get the money you want.

Paypal also now does cards that can be bought and charged at 7-11. You only pay $3.95 for the card. Then you load up to $500 onto the card. Once you get home you scratch off the thing and give the person the serial number. They go onto the specific site Paypal has established for the car and type in their paypal email and then type in the code and how much they are withdrawing from it. There is no fee for that. And Paypal will give the buyer all the buyer protection that comes with using their site for purchases.

As a buyer, if something arrives damaged or with missing parts or not as it was described, you can either take it up with the seller or start a dispute. When you open a dispute Paypal will recommend you contact the seller first. If you go ahead with the dispute, then Paypal will question the seller and give them a specific amount of time to respond. If they do not respond or if their response is not satisfactory, then Paypal will refund your money provided you return the item to them within a certain amount of time and the return shipping is on you. Once you arrange the shipping you have to provide proof of the shipping to Paypal and that it has arrived and then they refund the money. Usually Paypal favors the buyer so you should always feel comfortable buying.
