When I ran my stock cat back with my off road headers, I had really fine fiberglass filaments all over the back of car. My car is black so it would show up every time I washed it. I swear my car was getting louder as I put more miles. I was actually blowing the packing out!

Oh, great. I just ordered axlebacks to go louder, and my car is at 8k miles. Guess I should have waited longer.
My car didn't get noticeably louder in the first ~15,000 miles I owned it. Once I put an X pipe in, I could actually hear it in the car (any condition, windows up or down). Just doing a resonator delete will definitely get you volume, but it's a bit of a tinny sound and very raspy. Don't regret getting the axlebacks.

Once my car hit around 5,000 miles, not only did I notice it had gotten louder and deeper, several friends asked when I changed the exhaust. I'd originally planned on a catback, but I think I may be happy with just a resonator delete now.

Thanks. I was kidding, and I am looking forward to trying out FR Sport. I just want one step louder, and a little higher pitched tone.

My theory is that these won't sound any louder than stock when I drive around most of the time in Normal mode with an automatic.
We'll see how long it takes my highly-observant GF to notice. :ninja:

I didn't catch the sarcasm...darn, I'm usually good at that! Shoulda gone with the Touring axle backs if you wanted to stay under the radar!

The stock system is under the radar. I hope that the very low shift points of the auto will also keep the FR Sport system under the radar too. :)

All the 4th and 5th gen cars sound like Mustangs to my ears.

I've been experimenting the last day with how good of fuel economy I can get on my commute, and thus shifting at 2-2.5k and skip shifting everywhere. While the fuel economy is impressive, the other thing is that I barely hear the car, whereas in my normal driving I hear the exhaust all the time. If you drive like that, and windows closed, you probably won't hear the exhaust too much. Fun, right? :headbonk:

When driving meekly the auto shifts at 1500, sometimes lower. A good thing.

Yes, it will be fun driving like that and fooling my GF for as long as it takes her to discover that the car sounds different. After that I will let er' rip!

First I surprised her with the car, then the color, then the wheels, and now the exhaust. And she is impossible to surprise.

Lol when I got a yellow car my gf was shocked "But you hate bright colors". My answer "this is different, it's a Mustang"

Exactly.

She is so funny. When I painted the diffuser black, she was mad! Then she understood the look I was going for.
Same with the wheels: "I told you to get silver! We should have discussed this." Now she is over it; it's my race car.
I can only imagine how she will react to a different exhaust. She thinks the stock sound is perfect. As was the diffuser. And the OEM wheels.

I can get in on this. At only 800 miles my car feels a bit looser and the exhaust is a bit more pronounced. The first week i had the car i was dissapointed how tame it was, i couldnt tell the engine was on stopped at a red light. Now im feeling it and hearing it a little more.

Exhausts change in loudness and deepness as they break in. Even aftermarket exhausts. I do believe tho that aftermarket exhausts tend to break in much faster.

It really depends on the packing material used, and also the driving habits of the owner. Our new systems usually take about 500-1k miles before they are broken in-sometimes longer!
