So I checked my oil today @ 2000 miles and it looks like I'm already a quart low. While I'm a little unnerved at this mileage to be that low already, what oil do I add to match the original factory oil?

TIA

factory fill is Motorcraft synthetic blend, and its quite normal to use some oil during the break in period

At what mileage are you planning to do your first oil change?

At about the same mileage after 8 months of ownership I also had to add a quart, I used the recommended spec oil.

did you check the oil when the engine is hot or cold? What was the CHT when you checked the oil?

I do both depending when I think to do it, but if the motor is hot I give it 10 minutes for the oil to drain back down, can't say I ever checked the oil temp though...

My oil changes are covered by Ford as part of my service plan. I just add a quart if needed...:D

I did my first change at about 2k miles and used the factory fill (Motorcraft 5W-20 semi-syn). I later decided that I wanted something a bit more substantial for the hot summers here and went to Rotella T6, 5W-40 full synthetic. No issues. I think I've settled on Mobil1 0W-40 as a generic fill for all of my cars and equipment (tractor/generator/powerwasher/etc). On my next change, I'll switch the Mustang over and then I've only got to stock one product. I'm able to get M1 for about $20 for 5 quart jugs so I've stocked up. :)

Currently at 18k miles on the GT (in a little over a year) and will change the oil again at 21k.

Best,

Best,
You know that the Rotella is a diesel oil, right?
