I found a good deal on a '16 GT convertible that I like and took it out on an extended test drive. Everything went well except for the fact that the seatbelt in the convertible sits on the top of the shoulder (trapezius muscle). I have a bad back & neck and about 10 minutes into the test drive the pressure from the seatbelt caused painful muscle spasms. I tried adjusting the seatbelt but it seemed to still rest on the shoulder since it is coming from a low position behind the seat.

Has anyone else run into this and if so did you find a solution. Hate to think I have to write off the convertible due to the design of the seatbelt. :frusty:

Was the seatbelt in the guide? I found that it is more comfortable for me if I take it out of the guide. If it is in the guide it rubs against my neck.

I also drive with the belt out of the seat holder. I am 6' so the seat is behind the attachment point of the belt. Have no issue with pressure from the belt, my wife has hers set up the same way.
Love the convertible!

Same, don't use the holder, and the additional perk is it's much easier to get into the back seats without it in the holder :)

I stopped using it in the holder day one as well. First my kids ride in my car on a regular basis, and second it is very uncomfortable in the guide, seems to hit in the wrong spot. I do put it in the passenger side if I am driving with the top down but alone, the wind will make it move around and bang against the plastic panel. That is the only time it is in the holder.

Mine is a V6 with cloth but it has an opening in the plastic holder that lets you slide it right in or out very easily... don't know about other models with leather.

Ditto. I don't use the holder for the same reasons.

The flutter of the belt drives me nuts when it's not in the holder when the tops down. I'm 6'3 and the belt is fine either way comfort wise. Anyone with a wind screen notice if it reduces belt flutter?

I'm 5'10", so I'd be of little help.

Yes, very easy. But not so easy when you are driving, have been going along a few times and it starts clanking around, reaching it then is a bit of a pain but can be done (with reasonably long arms).
