I was a GTO guy in the 80's when the older mustangs were everywhere sittin for sale. Now if I had to pick my fav I'd have to say the 67 gt350 You really cant compare the whole for an all time best. There were a lot of factors to consider for each era.

This^ with the GT350 model as the #2.

And I am one the 550 had to grow on. To me it is a lot like when I met my wife. At first, I was having to much fun goofing off with other ladies. The one day I realized just how smoking hot, smart and challenging she was. Boom. Love struck. Now 25 years later we could not be happier.

Hoping this love of Mustangs ends up with a similar track record. But for now, the list above is it.

Loved my 89 GT convertible but hated the POS AOD auto transmission. Had it rebuilt 2 times and it still sucked. LOL

The S550 is my all time favorite.

For me, the best looking car currently being made is the Jag F-type. The fact that the S550 looks very similar from the side, the fastback roof line, the long hood, even the door shape, is really a testament to how good the S550 looks.

I'd give it to the GT350 for best looking for my tastes. It has the extra 'things' that complete the S550 design...mainly 1" lower hood, side flares/vents and way better front fascia. The much much lower hood bulge just looks SO MUCH better then the standard GT hood. The standard hood bulge is too much..should be much more subtle. When you look at the side profile of the GT350 to the GT, the front of the GT doesn't look right after you see the GT350.

S550 is hands down the best looking Mustang ever made imo.

For me will be interesting to see what the "public" think, here in the UK the S197 got crates of attention, but when I went out in my mates S550 GT even with loud exhaust not so much. I think my Black CS might draw the crowds
Also for me this car is more of a Sports car than a Muscle car, it sits lower like a sports car, where the S197 looked a pure muscle car. I think this car was built with the World market in mind, where the S197 was built just for America.
So I dont think you can compare them
for the tech and the interior this wins hands down, but on the looks for me, its now beautiful, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder :lol:
