How about you guys with factory 3:31 or 3:55s and manual trans. Can you pull off a classic pedal to the metal tire smokin takeoff with the traction control off?

Yes. 3.31's and Manual Trans. Lights 'em up very nicely AdvanceTrac full OFF and Line Lock engaged. Does just as well with the Line Lock off and peeling out. The trick is: the engine makes peak torque at 4,250rpm. So, she's got to have a decent head of steam (ie: rev it up good, 4k +) before you dump the clutch.

Unfortunately, these cars are not like the Mustangs of the Saintly Days of Yore with peak torque around 2,000 rpm. Like I also said previously, I do believe there is also some computer interference holding back the throttle at a standstill or below a certain vehicle speed. My car is like a goddamn freight train out on the highway. If you want to pass, yank it into 4th, firewall it and be pressed firmly into the seats by our Lady of Blessed Acceleration.

But, around town, she's docile like a little kitten. Honestly, I think that's half the fun of these cars. They're friggin' monsters when you want them to be, but quiet and unassuming when you need them to be.

but can you really say your s550 has no wheel hop if you haven't attempted a non linelock burnout?

Mine's a '16, so there may have been some improvement between model years? But I'm also running the 18x8 stock wheels and can report absolutely zero wheel hop.

Which is funny, because my friend has a '15 Ecoboost and his wheel-hops to the point of destruction.

Can any other folks with '16s report as to whether or not they experience wheel hop and which wheels/tires they're running?

My 16 PP GT definitely has wheel hop. Maybe the 3.31 gearing helps?

The only improvement you got is a newer interface for your infotainment.

I can't say that I have any wheel hop. I've only done two rev falling clutch dumps so far though. right around 2500-3000rpm. I didn't notice any wheel hop or anything. But I didn't stay in it that long. I really think part of it is the bullshit perilli tires the factory puts on. I have continental contisport on the back of my GTPP. I got it from a lexus dealer haha. I'm really happy with them.

I dont know if you guys are looking for an input from a 3.15 auto but I stopped at a dry cool road at night, turned off just traction control, put it in first, and then just mashed the pedal. I quickly hit the rev limiter and bounced off a few times while my rear tires were just smoking away. i must have left a 15-25ft tire mark on the ground when i went back to look.

So for me, in manual mode, i burned out with just mashing it.
