I bought the GT with perfpack about 11 months ago. Believe it or not I just recently started raggin on it from a dead stop. I mean I always drove it like intended as in reaching high speeds rapidly or entering curves at nearly twice recommended speed. I can say ive never had a full out drag race in her. I'm very satisfied with its road tracking manners but everyone's question has usually been "have you tromped on it and smoked the tires?" My answer is usually "well havent really laid into the throttle from a dead stop, but Im sure she'd have no problem laying down the rubber." So lately the time has come to put the pedal on the floor. The results are not what I expected. I once read a post on here somewhere about a member discouraged that they had unexpectedly poor performance attempting to do a burnout without the line lock. I can now see where they're coming from. No matter how much I tried flooring it my end result was a shuddering of wheel hop for a very brief moment. No blow the tires off roastem wheel spin though. I really thought with the 3:73s I would never worry about failing to burnout. I've concluded many factors come into play here but first am curious of the members input and experienced knowledge. Sorry bout the long post.

It is a bit odd for sure. My 2010 gt would smoke the tires a lot more than my PP GT will. I suspect there is just no way to completely disable TC on these s550s I hit the button and it says TC off but I swear I still feel it pull power.

I do disable the TC by the way and double check it. Ive even done some clutch dumping. Even worse results. My last mustang was a 90 5.0 stick. It was only 220 horse and difficult to not smoke em. The s550 is heavier. Heavy pp wheel im sure. Sticky pirellis and the irs. Im know the power is there. It pulls damn awesome! Maybe no low end torque?

considering the s550 has more HP per pound than a fox in stock form i doubt thats it. I think it is quite literally just the fact that the TC is never fully off even if you turn it off.

1st gear is pretty low you will run out of rpm's at around 25 mph so if you really want to smoke-em start in 2nd and you will be amazed
I rarely use 1st anymore even if I dont stomp it just normal driving

I have the base gt. I only know of one push to turn off tc or the double push to turn on advancetrac sport.

Oh good, I'm not the only one! I've got a non-PP GT and I was thinking that maybe it was my choice of the 3.31's that was the problem. A few things you can try, since I see you're a base car like me.

#1 Double Tap the Traction Control Button. This will put you in Sport Mode and allows for a little bit more fun.

#2 Hold the Traction Control button for 7-8 seconds to mostly disable AdvanceTrac.

The main thing is getting that traction control / AdvanceTrac right off.
Take into account that the V8's peak torque is around 4,000 rpm. That's actually quite high if you're used to classic muscle cars that had peak torque at relatively low rpm. I did my first burnout sans line lock the other night and basically what you have to do is rev it up to between 3500-4000 and dump the clutch as smoothly as possible. (I'm very much against side-stepping a clutch unless you know it's a healthy race-type clutch that can stand that sort of abuse).

Suffice to say, Trigger did a hell of a smokey peel-out when I did that. I managed to get a nice little pair of elevensies this afternoon on the way home from work just by revving her up a little from a take-off.

Finally, I do believe since these cars have a drive-by-wire setup, that the ECU won't allow full throttle below a certain vehicle speed. Because if that were the case, these cars would be boiling the hides at every stoplight.

The stock fox had 225 with tires compared to 275 width high performance summer tires.

If the tires are cold you can spin it around in 3rd gear but if the tires are hot you can dead hook in 1st!

Technology makes it hook

That's it.. must be the daily temperature lately..80°s. The rear was alot loose on the past colder days though I never attempted the smokin launch.

After you're off the clutch pedal, get your foot on the brake. You can control forward motion that way. And it leaves really nice black marks. I pulled a 40' burn out right in front of my dealers showroom. Those marks were there for three months.

Have you set it to "Track mode"? That disables all the driver assist features like TC, etc.

I don't know about you but my automatic with 3.15 just peels rubber at even half throttle.

The autos have all season tires and I think they are a little skinnier in the rear too

Base model, he doesn't have the drive modes button like the premiums have.
