Right. And if I was to go headers I would definitely join you in the Kooks green cat route. I will admit tho, that I didn't know Whipple tuned for headers at all. I appreciate that info sir!

Ken worked for Lund. He will make your tune more aggressive tho. But there is no such thing as more aggressive and just as safe. That by noooo means Ken won't make you a safe tune. Just saying in any case, more aggressive = less safe. He will be running more timing than the Lund tune.
I get it, but on reading tons of threads from multiple sites, there is no evidence of Ken causing a failure at any point. I think it's more of a case of safe Vs overly safe. I just want to get what I can out of my mods in a safe manner. I do agree that more aggressive means less safe, but we are just not seeing any evidence at all of one of their tunes proven to be safer than the other. Given that, will take the higher power approach.

What advantage do you think the Ken B tune has over Whipple?
I would go with Whipple if running 91 or 93 octane. You will have more built in safety features with the Whipple cal.

I Think all of our cars are totally different and a custom tailored tune to our specific care will always be better. I have been through this with a jdm boxed tune on my Saleen and then a custom dyno tune. I know that may not be the same, but it was an obvious difference when driving it. My challenger that I supercharged, found the best tuber and had it tuned. I was the first to hit 11's with a magnacharger on 20" street tires. I just base everything off of a great tuner. I'm sure the Whipple tune is awesome and works great. But I'd put money on that there is more to be had with a customer tune....safely. If I was a manufacturer who gave warranties on my product, I would be on the extra safe side for sure.

The difference here is Whipple uses a Ford Engineer to write the calibration, the PCM actually knows its supercharged and has models and tables specifically written for it not not modifying tables that were written for a N/A application. Send a message to WhippleSC or do a search for his posts he explains it better than me. Plus now with the Flight Control features being able to control the power in each gear is amazing.

I do like some of the features for sure, and i know Whipple dp everything they can to keep us safe. Another part if this equation is me wanting to be somewhat different. I almost didn't get a Whipple cause it seems everybody has one. It's like my Street glide. Lol.... I spoke to Ken, and I know there is a reason why it's most popular so I went with it. Since I did take the common route, the Last thing I personally wanted to do was have the same tune too.... I know that's a personal thing, but I like it to be somewhat different.

Its the butt dyno feel. I know the gains are good up top, but yes.. the back pressure is the dumb shit I am talking about :) Still has the better torque feel down low. I'm sure folks may disagree.. but in every car I have ever driven without cats.. the low end torque is not the same. If I was ever spending time up around the 7,000 RPM range, I'd buy headers for sure. But the only time mine has ever seen 7k RPM is on the dyno lol
Good luck feeling a loss of torque removing cats with a Whipple....

Agreed. All around, from what I have heard, Ken's tunes are very good. I am just saying that more power, more timing = less safe. But it certainly doesn't mean Ken would set you up for failure either. Going from Lund or Whipple, to Ken, is to get more power out of your tune. If the idea is max power, with a good tune.. he seems to be the man!

I dont have cats on mine in prep for FI and loss torque is not that much noticeable. Ive had kooks w my corsa since Jan of 2015 aint too worried about torque loss in "butt dyno"

I will be using Whipple tune as well and sure to get that CEL and just gonna have to use foulers and see if it works.

Not worried about emissions since in cali wont have to smog it for 6years.

lol I hear ya man. Again.. to each their own. I would personally feel the difference instantly. The "torque numbers" might be the same... but pulling off of a hill from a stop sign will absolutely not feel the same. And I know from experience. It's not a guess or an idea. And I live in MOUNT Washington.. so everything is a dam hill both ways lol But there is zero doubt that the high RPM gains are there! Big time.

I'm a reader, who loves cars and maybe goes to the track twice with each car, and really don't know that much about racing so excuse my ignorance with this question. But In a car that can be a handful to launch in a drag race, wouldn't we be better off with a little less torque out of the gate and more power up top?
