Got a quote from racv, with 625 excess, premium is 2198 per year. That's with glass cover and no mods. Seems a bit expensive compared with prices you guys are getting....might have to shop around.

Just did an online quote with AAMI, came up with exactly the same price.

Learnt a big lesson though, the biggest factor they take into account is where you live.

I changed my address to my parents address and the quote went down from 2200 to 1100. Maybe i should move? lol

I'm not sure which insurer, but a guy at work got a similar saving when he tried his neighbour's address (yes, one house away)!

Apparently sometimes they seem to blacklist places... he wasn't able to get any love when he mentioned that he'd moved in there recently, so he just went with a different insurer.

I had only recently re insured my VX SS holden with GIO ($380) and and transferred the Mustang onto that policy instead of cancelling it. I was charged an extra $440 for the remainder of the term (45 weeks). So I would say this would equate to around $850 for a full year.
I did take a high excess of $1200 because I have never had to claim in 41 years.

Best price I've received is $1116 with BudgetDirect, with $950 excess
Most other prices are around the $1,400-$1,500 mark, with youi a standout at $3,000.

WTF, how are you guys getting prices under $1k?

Do AAMI Quote Online is $100 cheaper than calling them

Age maybe? Either that or location.

I've only done an online quote with NRMA and it was $845.00 with a $1,000.00 excess. I'm 53 and my wife is 50 so that probably helps. I will try Shannons when it is close to coming as they were cheaper for My RS Focus than any other. The good thing now with NRMA is you can nominate the km's you will do in 5,000km increments which they never did before. Less time on the road means less risk for them.

I amended my NRMA policy from market value to agreed value of $63800.

The annual premium rose from $985 to $1148 with a $650 basic excess.

Would the price be cheaper if the vehicle would not be a daily driver, never driven in the wet with a maximum of 5000 kms per year?
