What is Ford's take on these engine failures?

I've been seeing a lot more posts and videos on Ecoboost engines failing. My assumption is catch cans and overall heavily modding, which includes tunes. But for those engines which maybe blew up without any mods on the engine, has anyone reported this to Ford? This has to be covered under my powertrain warranty?

My ecoboost engine blew on me at just 7000 miles, I had a catch can on and they still replaced my engine under warranty. I have a feeling this is going to happen again....going to investigate on how I can use the lemon law if it occurs again.

Sorta on topic, but is the general consensus that if the engines go past 10-15k, they won't blow? Or does mileage not play a role here?

When your car is at Ford getting repaired under warranty, i'm pretty sure Ford would be informed since they're sending a new motor to the dealership for free.

If you want to know what Ford thinks about this, i doubt you'll hear anything official.

You can scoff at the idea of a catch can causing engine failures. Fact is, if are running one with a gutted PCV, and the boost side check valve fails, you WILL badly hurt, or blow up your motor very quickly. Personally I see ZERO need to gut the factory PCV, mine is in place, and has no smoking issues at all, because it has the other check valve behind it. Bottom line, I would just upgrade the check valves to a boomba, and sleep easy at night.

Are you referring to my post? We personally had our supplied Check valve fail on the dyno at 30 psi during a run. If the stock PCV was gutted the motor would be gone. The fact remains, yes losing a check valve in the boost side, will quickly destroy your motor.

I doubt he's referring to you. Anthony's been running an upgraded check valve on his CC since before it was cool. ;)

Because it's not the catch can that caused the issue now is it? You are talking about a gutted PCV and a failed check valve...come on.
