Just a quick thanks to Thomas at HextallS550. Received my new big screen, bezel and assorted parts late last week, installed over the weekend and as of last night, it's all programmed and fully functional for half the price some other places are charging. Now i just need to get the digital...
"They seem to think that they can fix it in a few days. Not an uncommon procedure for them. We shall see. Fingers crossed..."
That was pretty much the same deal with my 10 speed when it failed. They ended up replacing the transmission, not repairing it.
Mine is going back into the shop tomorrow for the leaking transmission issue and they're also going to check out the thudding sound. Fortunately the mechanic that put in the second transmission actually heard the sound and agreed it wasn't normal.
My car does the same thing. It's not consistent but i can feel it in the shifter (auto) at idle in park. As soon as i put the car in drive, the sound and feeling in the shifter goes away. The sound is like a dull thud and since it goes away when the engine is under load i assumed it wasn't...

"What were you doing when it blew out? Just driving normal? Doesnt sound good."

Mine had the same issue (car is completely stock too). Took it in, had the transmission software updated then all was good... until tonight when the tranny shit the bed. Locked up, got really hot, made loud banging sounds followed by marbles in a dryer sounds. It's at Ford and i'm driving an Escape.
Got my car back last night. Service Manager said they did a "software update" and declared it fixed. Drove it around after picking it up and it feels great. No hard downshifts and shifting from drive to reverse and back is pretty smooth. I have doubts about this "software update". I wonder if...
