So I walked out to my car after work to find this... Cracked in two places and condensation.

Anyone else have this happen to their lights? I called ford and they said it may not be covered under warranty. I looked up the price of a new tailight and almost had a heart attack lol. Could my tint have caused this?

I saw there were tailights being sold on ebay for around $150. You should check them out.

Tint would not cause that. Take it in to see if it's covered.

I plan on it. I don't see why it wouldn't be covered though

Unless there is an impact mark on the outside of the lens that isn't showing up on the pics there is no way for them to deny that.

The only thing the tint could have done, in theory, is caused clouding of the plastic IF you used anything but water and a wee bit of dish soap (i.e., chemicals... like ammonia in Windex) to place the tint on the less (if that was even necessary).

Doesn't need to be a visible impact mark. Plenty of objects can contact a lamp assembly and result in stress cracks in the plastic without a witness mark. The plastic that these lights are made from is extremely strong and durable; it takes some serious force to crack them.

I would not expect that to be covered, unless there is information available regarding specific build dates in which the lamps were manufactured incorrectly, resulting in the condition.

There's no way anything came into contact with them with enough force to crack them . I'm very particular with where I park my car and I always keep an eye on it from work. Someone would have to go out of their way to try to do damage to it

On my '09 GT I had tint on my center grill fog lights. They ended up cracking in the warm, wet summer hear outside of Nashville. I don't know if it's the same issue, but I ended up living with it.

I do have tint on my taillights now, so I'll be watching for cracks.

Well I brought it in and the service lady swore up and down that there's no way in hell they will cover that. I asked politely for her to take pictures any way and at least give it a shot. So I guess we will see if I get lucky

Same thing as a windshield. If there is no impact mark and the crack begins on the inside ford has to replace your windshield under warranty. The reason is in your post, stress cracks. Those are covered as they result from manufacturing. Nothing is going to contact a properly molded plastic part and cracked it without showing a witness mark on the outside and only cause an internal crack.

So what happens if they come back and say it's not covered?
