Hi all! New to the forums here with my 2016 GT/CS.

First day i drover her off the lot she boiled over! Sent her back and they told me they couldn't find anything wrong...

Drove it to SF today and while in the city the CHT rose to 220. That cannot be normal, can it? I always above 200 and i would say I fluctuate from 205-215 on the regular, that with easy driving.

I will be getting the famous thermostat everyone has discussed on here, but can someone please tell me what "normal" temps are for these new motors, I dont want to damage it before its even broken in!

Cheers all!

I was in the bay yesterday to pick up my GT PP. Temps were 204+ in traffic. I dont think 220 is off...I drove home to Sacramento and didn't have any problems.

It was likely over services with coolant. Chill man.

Why are you freaking out about head temps being in 220 range while driving in the city. There isn't a lot of air flow in those conditions, so of course the temps will go up. There is air flowing well at crushing speeds, so expecting cruising temps while driving in city conditions I.e stop and go traffic is just stupid.

Partyelmarty- Im freaking out cause its a new car and I didnt expect my first drive to have steam boiling out of my motor! Wouldnt you be concerned too?

Anyway, I dont know what NORMAL operating temps are for new motors. That is why I am asking. Also, from what I have read on here 220 is pretty damn high, even for city driving.

If my 67 hit 220, id have a problem.

No, I most likely wouldn't. I would probably just check coolant level and read the owner's manual to see what information is provided about normal operating temperatures. Use a little common sense and you might save yourself some stress.

It likely dumped the extra coolant plus some when it boiled over and I bet if you checked your fluid level it would be slightly low, which would cause a few degree higher operating temps than normal. Mine will get up to 215-218*F while sitting in city traffic.

Then what is the point of these forums? To be ridiculed and show off pictures? We could all just read the manual...Thanks for a great start to this community.

Your second sentence made sense and has allowed me to relax.

I think you have a valid concern I live in hot sunny Florida and my temps have never been over 200.

lol don't take it personal, there are a lot of Internet @ssholes out there...just don't ask what intake to get or that your cat back added 15whp and you will be good. And never talk trash about Corsa exhaust, that will get you raped...literally....

Legitimate question just ignore the tools...oh and it could be San Francisco that's causing the issue, all the libs staring at your bad for the environment v8 has got to have something to do with it.

You must not be driving it very hard if your temps have never been over 200 in FL. Mine is at 205 a LOT!

My car ran extremely hot during break in and for the first 3000 or so miles. I had white powdery stuff on some of the hoses and sticky residue on the surface next to the hood latch. I had to have all new brakes installed on mine and when they did that they cleaned it up and said they didn't find anything. Still runs a little hot sometimes. My belief is that Ford needs to redesign the hood and grilles on these cars....

Well it's Paxton supercharged and has a 170 thermostat and I drive it pretty hard. Even before the Paxton and tstat I never saw over 200.

Quit being sensitive. I'm not even close to being an asshole dude. Sorry I just expect a certain level of compentance. Yes, the manual is actually there to read believe it or not. Did you bother checking the coolant level? Has the car felt like it lost a lot of power when it reached 220*F? Has the car boiled over again? You have to attempt to help yourself before someone can help you. We can't hold your hand and fix everything over the Internet.

Well that's why yours doesn't run hot, lol. I'm thinking about swapping out my thermostat too. After I posted I realized that sarcasm without emoji wouldn't translate well. I figured you were modded and driving hard.
