I have a single garage that I am thinking of modifying to fit the mustang, I know it will not fit through a single garage door 7' wide, just wondered how big a opening it would require to fit through with relative ease, I could make the opening 8' wide but that would be max, anyone parking there's in a single garage and what sort of sizes are you driving through?

The car is 2080 mm wide with mirrors, with them folded an 8 feet should work.

8ft gives you 1.4ft swing on the foor to climb into the car, 2.08m, is about 6.8ft.

If you can fit in your car with 1.4ft door swing then that's all fine and dandy :).

Granted, you wont have exactly 1.4ft as that's calculating that you grind the side of the car against the wall, you'll probably have more like half a foot... good luck with that ;).

Basically they have fitted two single doors on the front of a very large garage, once I am through the door there is plenty of room to open the door as they are not divided, but can't take the whole front off as its supporting the roof, but could make the doorway bigger

Ah i'm following now, 8ft is more than enough, not sure the width WITH the wingmirrors exposed, but i'm sure you'll be fine :)!

My house is about 20 years old and has two x single garages with about a foot of brickwork separating them. Looks like the builder went for the cheap option so I'm going to have to add an RSJ and remove the brickwork so I have one double-size door - as I can't risk scraping my car - and I know I will as it's VERY tight.

I've had a couple of quotes, both ÂŁ3k so unfortunately I'm going to have to bite the bullet. I'm trying to convince myself it's an 'investment in my house' whereas I think it's an investment in my sanity!

Is that 7ft wide? The car will fit through a door that size as the car is less than 7ft wide, well I bloody hope so or i'm in the Shit.

My garage door opening is just under 8 feet. I clear my side mirrors by about 3 or 4 inches each. Once inside I park slightly to the right and can get in and out fine. It's doable if you just watch the mirrors going in.

The modding started on the Garage today, new back door and frosted window in, tomorrow i'm looking at replacing the main door, thought this was going to be an expensive hobby.

You bunch of fannies. My car just about gets through the opening, mirrors folded, with an inch each side.

I fly in at 30mph and screech to a halt 6" from the end. Every time.

:headbang:
I recon I'd have to do a James Bond/Diamonds are Forever and do it on two wheels. Can't be that hard - he had a 'Stang!

tennis balls on string down form the ceiling mark stop points are good - preferably

1. on the front bumper of course
2. probably on sides.
